Familiarity with even a few trans kids will quickly cure you of any thought that there is some sort of social cachet to be had here, or any kind of social advantage.

We've become a two-EV household: my wife drives the 2025 Ionic 5 (she's on a road trip to AZ in it as we speak) and I drive my beloved 2017 Chevy Bolt.
Yes, if you have two cars, one should be an EV, that's obv.
But I really think that, if people ran the numbers, they would find that it's cheaper just to rent an ICE vehicle for road trips than to own one. Maybe not for everyone, but for most folks.
And if you *do* simply want to maximize clicks, then drop all the pretense & just crank out short-form videos.
It is true that if your goal is to maximize the number of clicks on a given piece of content, you don't want to produce a 3,000-word piece. But maybe not everyone should be trying to maximize clicks! Maybe it's okay to target a smaller, more devoted audience. Indeed I've bet my entire career on it.
My entire journalistic career, editors & owners & bosses told me again & again that my stuff was too long, too in-depth, too wonky, no one would read it.
Again & again, readers flocked to the longer, wonkier pieces, passed them around, wrote me to thank me for them, cited them years later.

OMFG I think about that all the time. I bet it is a *nightmare* in there.
It is a measure of the tenor of our times that basically any public demonstration of basic decency or compassion reduces me instantaneously to blubbering.
A good rule of thumb is that any conservative invocation of a neutral third-party principle (eg, "parents' rights") is a lie, for the basic reasons Wilhoit laid out.
A final note before I quit ranting: yes, I have trans people in my life. I've watched it play out in my own extended family & friend groups.
And I get that that matters. But it shouldn't, really. Your empathy & compassion should not be reserved for people you find familiar! All humans are human!
If you go over & observe X for a while, you notice this as a distinct theme: tons & tons of center-left dudes sweatily trying to signal that they, unlike the other lefties, aren't sissies. It's genuinely embarrassing to watch.
Here is a man with more simple moral integrity & courage that the vast bulk of Dem electeds & pundits.
