a four-panel stick-figure cartoon
panel one:
three standing figures. from left to right, a guy wearing a necktie looking at his phone, an angry MAGA guy yelling FUCK YOUR FUCKIN POST FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU, and a rando just standing there like an NPC.
panel two:
the guy looking at his phone shows MAGA guy his hand, causing MAGA to vanish. the word Block hangs in the air where fuckface once was. a green-bordered in-game message appears, reading "+2 Mental Health." now the rando is suddenly interested.
panel three:
as our man continues doom-scrolling, a sly grin on his face, the rando on the right puts on a punch-me face and snarls: "Typical lefty, blocking everyone who disagrees with-"
panel four
phone guy shows the hand to punch-me face, causing the rando to vanish. the word Block hangs in the air where that dickhead was. a green-bordered in-game message appears again, reading "+2 Mental Health."

Star Trek Voyager scene. Seven of Nine (tertiary adjunct of unimatrix 01) is pictured. She has a dolphin shaped metal robotic implant around her left eye because she is a borgs. Closed caption reads, "Fun will now commence."

Framed black and white screenprint of small square-rigged ships in a high-walled harbor at night. Stars sparkle in the sky. The white ink has been streaked and patterned to suggest both waves in the water and texture to the rocks
(Also, yes, I did bring some home.)

Considering that the other really standout category at this particular estate sale was maritime art, especially antique maps and ships/beaches/lighthouses, I would not have been surprised.

But if you set your email up as IMAP, it should sync read count across any devices accessing the account, so making something read on the laptop should do so on the phone. Why would you make so much more work for yourself?

We donβt give people an option about seat belts any more because the evidence is so overwhelming, and the public good so apparent, that the state feels thereβs no need to justify it.
Somehow, despite equal or more evidence and public good for vaccines, we rely instead on personal choice. Why?

I think this is critical - I agree with you; vaccinating kids *shouldnβt* be a choice for parents, any more than feeding them or using car seats or any other fundamental safety thing. But because it *is* left to parents as an option, the very presence of a choice makes people believe itβs debatable.

In the DMV, itβs the entire damn town of McLean.
