I find it so exploitative to offer royalty pay without setting clear expectations of what the average of those actually is. Once again, percentage doesn't matter when you're getting sub 5 sales TOTAL on a product that costs two. Dollars.
And while we're on the topic. Being paid royalties is only worth it when two things are true: a good amount of sales and an appropriately priced product.
When you're selling a whole module for literally $2, that you had me draw 7 full bodies for, it really doesn't matter that I get 30% royalties.
When there was a massive layoff of LoL artists (iirc), Cam was in all of their comments offering them to work on DayLITE. It felt extremely exploitative knowing these people just lost their solid income, to offer them work for pennies if that...
It always bothered me that he would repost NSFW work on the main publisher account, which wasn't marked 18+ either. Both art and sex work. He acted as if it was coming from a place of support, but that account larped as a professional publisher of SFW works only, which just made it WEIRD instead.
I have not done work for DayLITE in years so needless to say I do not associate with them anymore. The miniscule pay, intense workload, and insanely chaotic project organisation were not worth.
Furthermore, this isn't the first time I'm hearing about Cam being a creep in RP servers.
I can't say I am even remotely surprised by this. I have no SA stuff with Cam (but it always felt weird that he reblogged porn to the "publisher" account, which wasn't even marked as NSFW or +18), but I'm just one of the (probably many dozens) of artists they scammed...
Oh yeah, paying for verified does seem to help with reach - that's what I understand from "Maximize discoverability" as well. But it certainly doesn't imply that you won't be able to be looked up if you're not verified is what I meant
hey folks. not a big fan of meta myself - but nowhere does it say that you will have to pay to be seen. please look at the exact verbiage used in the screenshots: "MAXIMIZE discovery; search optimization". this DEFINITIVELY does not mean that people will not be able to look you up.
