Billboards urge RV makers to stop sourcing wood from declining rainforest
Mighty Earth, a global environmental advocacy group, is pressuring RV makers to stop using wood from Borneo, where orangutans are losing their habitat, and instead work through the Forest Stewardship Council to source their wood.
RVs shouldnโt kill orangutans, and RV lovers deserve better than vehicles made with wood from destroyed forests and orangutan habitat. RV companies must do their part to protect rainforests by committing to responsible wood sourcing standards. The latest on our campaign:

CEO Note: Momentum builds for mountain lions - Mighty Earth
Reintroduction should move as quickly as the science and the people of Vermont will allow.
At a time when Nature is so directly under attack, we must not let inertia bog down the exciting possibility of renewal. #Rewilding projects โ nature restoration, species reintroduction, dam removals, and more โ offer hope in a time of challenges and are an antidote to despair.

Mighty Earth's Amanda Hurowitz on Indonesian government actions in Batang Toru: "It's a concern that the state-backed takeover may not guarantee better environmental practices, and that production may be prioritised over conservation...We have yet to see any plans."

Time to bring catamounts home? - VTDigger
A science-based feasibility study could determine whether catamounts can return to Vermontโs forests.
"Our forests have rebounded from nearly 80% deforested to roughly 75% forest cover statewide. And yet they are still missing one of the most iconic animals and a crucial keystone species that once called this place home: the catamount."

Brazilโs Cerrado is being transformed by industrial agriculture - with British trade playing a direct role in the loss of water systems, biodiversity and climate stability.
Brazil's Cerrado "plays a key role in South Americaโs water systems and climate, yet itโs one of the continentโs most threatened ecosystems," Monica Piccinini writes in The Ecologist. "Many people in Britain would be surprised to learn how closely their diets are tied to this distant landscape."

By handing these projects to state-owned companies, the Indonesian govt is now taking responsibility for the future of this landscape. This vital ecosystem & the communities & wildlife that depend upon it need protection & restoration, not further destruction under a different ownership structure.

Stalled on Clean Steel - Mighty Earth
Despite strides in green and hydrogen steelmaking, the US automotive industry still largely relies on steel produced through coal-fired furnaces.
While major automakers publicly pledge carbon-neutral goals, their continued reliance on coal-fired steel from Cleveland-Cliffs and US Steel is locking in massive greenhouse gas emissions and exposing nearby communities to dangerous air pollution.
