It’s tough to find balance when you don’t want to throw away money but you also want to show current and future candidates that they’ll be supported in your current “safe red” district. I am one of those candidates, so I get the dilemma.

As I've campaigned from Pflugerville to Odessa, I've heard this same issue come up over and over: Voters want big money out of politics. I would absolutely support legislation ending this practice and I believe we should have publicly funded elections.

I grew up in rural Illinois and took Driver's Ed over the summer. That means the corn is high, and in rural areas it's not like there's a stop sign at every intersection. My driver's ed teacher just sat back, chill as can be, cigarette in hand, like he was fine if he lived or died.
