Industrial Research Labs Were Invented In Europe But Made The U.S. A Tech Superpower It's a small number of research labs inside tech giants that are driving the rapid rise of AI today. But this is not the first time such labs have taken center stage, a new study shows.

How did the US become a global tech powerhouse in a relatively short time, about a hundred years ago? A new CSH study, in collaboration with Harvard's Growth Lab, points to one key factor: industrial research labs.

How fast is the energy transition at firm level?
Using supply-chain data, CSH researchers tracked shifts to low-carbon electricity, showing highly uneven decarbonization.

Current trends imply ~20% low-carbon by 2050 – up to ~70% if firms follow frontrunners.

🤔 Can networks be fair? This simple yet tricky question stood at the center of a workshop hosted by @lespin.bsky.social and Fariba Karimi at CSH.

Léo joins our 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘁𝘆 & 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗽𝘀𝗲 research group, where his research focuses on historical developments in gender inequality. To do this, he combines agent-based modeling with comparative analyses of historical and archaeological data.

AI writes about one-third of new software code in the US (29%), with large global differences (e.g., Germany 23%, Russia 15%), shows a new CSH study published in @science.org. This brings productivity gains, but so far seasoned software engineers are the only ones who benefit.
