Out today in paperback, this @chuckwendig.bsky.social novel is bizarre in all the right ways. Fundamentally a story of the perils of both isolation & conformity (both at the same time!), this book is a genuine page-turner. A creepy must-read. #booksky @huxleyandhiro.bsky.social

A blunt, in-your-face collection of stories of loneliness & survival. Yet, @legroff.bsky.social never once slips into the βpity ditch,β & neither should the reader. This is what striving to live looks like, when answers arenβt easy. A+ #booksky @huxleyandhiro.bsky.social

An incredibly powerful story of resilience in the face of evil & oppression. W/ these interconnected narratives, @claycane.bsky.social forces us to see slavery w/out βhistoryβsβ whitewashing. Yet, for all the suffering, there are also agency & justice, & happy endings long denied. #booksky

Out this week (1-27), Saundersβ latest is βA Christmas Carolβ for the 21st century, in which we are all Tiny Tim to the protagonistβs Scrooge. What purpose does a deathbed conversion serveβ& what does repentance look likeβwhen youβve bought into your own lies? A must-read. #booksky

This isnβt my standard type of review, but I have to say something about this book. I read it in a single sitting today, & then simply sat thinking about it for several minutes after. I read a lot, & the memory of many of those books has faded, but I know this one never will. Read it! #booksky

I was lucky enough to read a lot of amazing books this year, but for a βYear-In-Reviewβ post, it has to be all about Thomas Olde Heuvelt. He is the Millennial generationβs @stephenking.bsky.social. Fans of horror are privileged to live in the same world as him. #booksky @huxleyandhiro.bsky.social

Rob Reiner was one of those rare directors who could turn a novel into a movie and not only respect the source material, but even elevate it. From Kingβs βThe Bodyβ (βStand By Meβ) to βThe Princess Brideβ and beyond, this man was a master. Rest In Peace.
