Detainee safety isn’t a concern of the government under any circumstances on ICE Air - they remain shackled for the duration of the flight.
If there’s a pressurization issue, for example, their hands are cuffed and chained to their waist - they will not be able to put on their oxygen masks.
We don't need to go to Germany to see history repeating - two miles from this scene, 163 years ago, there was a concentration camp, where hundreds of our indigenous neighbors were interned for several months. Those who survived winter were sent away on a pair of river boats.
History is a circle.
We have heard from migrants subjected to ICE flights that guards/federal agents lay out the WRAP on the tarmac as a threat: Do what we say on the flight or you're gonna get put in a straitjacket.

Yesterday I observed 15 shackled detainees being loaded on the ICE Air flight at MSP. In this clip, as the last one hobbles on, staff put away a full-body WRAP restraint, which had been laid out next to the airstairs.

I’m glad producers got footage of Lynn getting a count - she’s been helping document these flights for months, and deserves a moment in the spotlight!
The online story mentions Kansas City as a destination of some of these flights - it’s possible that happened earlier this year, but I don’t recall seeing it, and it’s an odd choice to mention given prevalence of AEX.

The monthly analysis provided by KARE has incorrect counts for several months; we counted 11, 15, and 52 flights November - January, compared to KARE’s 8, 11, and 46.

Swiftair, in the lower right, is a Spanish airline that has nothing to do with ICE - mixed up with SwiftAir, a carrier that did this work, but hasn’t existed for several years.
The web story linked above mentioned a few high profile cases of minors getting moved on these flights, which didn’t happen - kids fly commercial.
This was corrected after it was pointed out, but no mention of the error/correction/retraction is currently shown.
Nice to see KARE 11 throwing some time and effort into this story - the gist of the reporting is in the right neighborhood, but some details are worth clarifying or exploring a bit further…

Overnight this aircraft completed its deportation trip to India. The migrant passengers were likely shackled for at least 59 hours.
Yesterday, the federal government filed sworn statements in our case Hussen v. Noem. The statements reveal the number of Operation Metro Surge (OMS) agents currently deployed in Minnesota and the number of OMS agents projected to be deployed in our state into March.
The judge ordered the government to reimburse the man for the $568 flight. This is the second instance of a federal judge in Minnesota finding the government in contempt for defying a court order.
The amount of time the detained remain shackled is frequently much much longer than the time in flight. For a December flight delayed 10 hrs: “An immigration attorney who had clients on this trip told me his clients were shackled for 82 hours straight.”

After two days without an ICE Air flight here at MSP, and having it go to HRL instead of ELP, it certainly feels like we're in a new flight rhythm now.
Today's detainee load was 11 men and seven women; two men were unloaded.
