Apropos of nothing, Gunpei Yokoi's "Lateral Thinking with Withered Technology" ideology might be a real good idea for developers to embrace in an era when hardware is getting stupid expensive for stupid reasons.

And if you haven't played The Killing Stone, here's some reasons why you should:
- Liam O'Brien reading Shakespearean English in a seductive gravelly voice
- Other reasons but I got distracted by the first one
Screenshot of the Steam page for The Killing Stone. "All Reviews: Very Positive (51)" "98% of the 51 user reviews for this game are positive."
Hey, you did it! We're "Very Positive" now! Thank you!
I'm reclaiming "vibe coding" to refer to writing code while listening to good music.
Screenshot of my resume. Sorry, I'm not transcribing the whole thing in the alt text.
Thanks all for the feedback on my resume last night and this morning. I've reorganized it and reintroduced a lot more active verbs and specific detail that I'd previously removed for some reason. And it still all fits on one page!
More feedback always welcome, of course.

So many reasons why I wonβt be sending postcards from Paraguay.
Yeah, I'm aware that most CVs get filtered through AI tools, looking for keywords and such. I'd hope I don't have to ask an AI to evaluate my CV but that might be the world we live in.
Now I'm just hearing "it's time to make some cah-razy money!" in David Lynch's voice.
This is one of my favorite albums of all time. It's a difficult listen in places, it's grossly personal, and it works.

You gotta sink to swim.
an immersive sim contains 1 or more of the following elements:
1) a combination lock whose solution is '0451'
2) flushable toilets
3) a journal entry or audio log where someone keeps writing/typing/talking until the point where they are cut off by whatever it is that kills them

Anyway, if any sugar mamas and/or daddies want to give me money to make a weird Lynchian game with a Knopfler-esque soundtrack, my DMs are open.
What if David Lynch directed a video game and Mark Knopfler did the soundtrack. A man can dream.
I'm pretty sure CVs in my industry (and a lot of others) get filtered by AI looking for specific keywords these days. I hate it here.
Wait, I did it, I figured out the perfect definition for an immersive sim.
(clears throat)
"An immersive sim is whatever you want it to be."
That makes a lot of sense, thanks!
Thanks! Yeah, I've lost a lot of info as I've tried to keep it on one page and I think I need to get over that.
Thank you! If you were to look at my CV for an interview, would you prefer it to be 2 pages, or to drop some of the older jobs to make room for more of those details in the recent jobs?
Mostly I've been wondering if, as a developer with almost 20 years in this industry, I should do a 2-page CV. Trying to stick to one page makes it real difficult to fit in all the things I've actually done. But one page feels cleaner.
(I'm serious about this. I want feedback. I love getting feedback on the games I make. I have thick skin. Be as aggro as you want.)
Who ya gonna call?
They're terrible for performance outside of very specific use cases.
But David! Epic says Lumen and Nanite are actually *faster*!
Yeah, uh, maybe if you use ridics high res assets all over the place, Nanite is faster than traditional rendering. But, maybe don't do that. Most games don't need subpixel triangles. Why are you doing that?
Artists do not like to hear that you can't use Lumen or Nanite in your UE5 game. Meanwhile, some programmers (it's me) would be happier using UE2.
One of my biggest regrets is that I had a ticket to see Mark Knopfler on his last tour, and I bailed because I was not in a good headspace at the time. He is my favorite songwriter and my favorite guitarist, and I still hope I might get to see him someday.
