To me Nintendo, like most tech companies, operate in cycles of being good and evil, and right now I feel like most of them are taking the evil corporate swings. I am hoping they swing back at some point and soon.

Comparing a bunch of evil and saying one isnt so bad is a bit too defeatist for my taste.

I can just say no and reject all of them altogether. This is a luxury, not a necessity.

If I have to go through all that trouble, personally, If I really wanted a handheld, I'd just get one of the steam ones and not consider the Switch 2.

Consider if that opens the door for EA to patent game mechanics that shouldn't be patentable, because Nintendo did it, and companies start patent trolling on game designs.

In the grand scheme of things it may be futile, the trend of their making is to be full digital, we merely try to hold out as long as we can.

The second they pushed a mechanics patent through and sued Palworld with it, it was over for me with Nintendo as a company (not speaking on their individual products)
That sets a terrible precedence in the gaming world.

Degradation is a fact of life, removing the ability for it to be a self contained medium is a whole different debate.
I dont think we should conflate two seperate, albeit related, issues.

I think there is having an opinion and then there is bending backwards everywhere and getting emotional over a corporation.

I enjoyed my Switch ownership just fine, but things has changed enough that I no longer support them.
The middle ground exist.

We have perfectly self contained game medium from 1980 that still works in perfect condition is what we are talking about here.

The fact that has been eroding over tine and consumer willingly letting it go and even defending companies for it is unsightly.
