I just can’t even laugh about anything related to this. I volunteered for two years trying to make this a good plan. And…we couldn’t even get items on our own agenda. It’s just SO bad. Nothing should run like this and it’s a really terrible deal.

Because the RTA refused to define “regional,” there are a large number of truly local projects in the suburbs. Projects that those jurisdictions should pay for themselves. “Regional” was left undefined precisely for this reason.

It would be a good idea to ask the RTA for their official definition of “regional.” Hint: they refused to make one. Also you could argue that ANY road is “connecting residents”; the issue is the decision making process.

That is not AT ALL how the RTA works. AT ALL.

Now do you see why it’s such a problem that the City only has one vote? The plan is dictated by the suburbs who vote as a block— they even dictate what projects get done inside the City.

The City wants to amend that project to reduce the number of car lanes, and add bike lanes. The suburbs, voting as a block, want to make it wider so it’s “easier” for them to speed through town (it won’t even do that because of induced demand, but they think it will)
