This is difficult to read, but it should be shared broadly. This is the actual carnage on our streets.
Unpopular opinion but turning right at a red light should not be legal in San Francisco (or anywhere else). Right on red makes horrors like this all too possible. sfstandard.com/2026/03/03/m...
It's hilarious that "working class" now applies exclusively to the racist failsons of regional car dealership owners but every unemployed trans person is an "elite".
I think the biggest mistake outsiders have about Israel and Palestine is assuming everyone in or connected to the region hates each other for stupid reasons when in fact they hate each other for pretty good ones that are very hard to undo.
I think this is a great argument, beautifully constructed
βLeftistsβ need to understand that βliberalsβ never say that.
Itβs something YOU say when youβre whining about having to vote against fascists.
Leftists have sealed themselves in a bubble where they never talk to actual liberals. They just argue with cartoon straw liberals in their own heads.
I really think "Platner's team declined an opportunity to speak to Maine Jews and reassure them" deserves to be a larger part of the story of his campaign than it has been thus far.
I am getting very tired of people blaming βprivate equityβ for changing consumer behavior.
Private equity didnβt degrade the quality of the clothes you buy, ultra fast fashion and online shopping where you sort by low price, then buy clothes without ever actually touching them did that.
Fun fact- the overwhelming majority of people executed by guillotine during the French Revolution and Reign of Terror were French peasants who were killed *en masse* as a result of political power-plays between factions of the Revolutionary Government.
Huh, what happened that Jewish people would be such a tiny part of Iran's actual population, if any at all
What happened to Iran's Jews that made them leave for the U.S. and Israel
It is very easy to confidence oneself that "our boys" would never commit war crimes, despite the fact that war crimes are astonishingly common
But also, if you can see how someone could get to "I've hung out with US soldiers, they're not genocidal" then you can also make your way to understanding why so many Israelis are pro-IDF
Youβve heard of Elf on the Shelf, now get ready for
"I feel liberated," said a top banker. "We can say 'retard' and 'pussy' withtout the fear of getting cancelled... its a new dawn"
We should never ever forget why they did it
Bluesky final boss: isβought distinction
I..uh ...did not say this.
(Functional Republicans are still Republicans)
This is just the Taylor Lorenz βCOVID vaccines were a net negative because of course they were going to make people vaccine hesitantβ view
We are not "drowning in medical misinformation." The people equipped to provide medical information (doctors) all recommend one thing while people that aren't at all qualified like RFK say another. If this is a difficult information environment for you, you are just a moron
βpublic health guyβ
Less surprising: theyβre all in DSA
Do you think thereβs someone on Threads who's like βOf COURSE she turned off comments on this one πβ
Was away for a bit, see that some on here decided to outrage farm about a tweet I didn't write for an article of mine they didn't read or link. Since that seems to be the preferred mode of consumption, here are a few other headlines! Always do the reading; don't let the engagement farmers con you.
Cameras New York City will activate new red light cameras at 50 new intersections a week every week for the next five weeks, with the target of reaching cameras in 600 intersections by the end of 2026. Prior to the expansion, the city was capped at 150 intersections with a traffic enforcement camera. However, the program has been a hit: the DOT reports that in intersections where cameras were installed, red light running is down 73 percent, T-bone crashes are down 65 percent and rear-end collisions are down 49 percent.
Continuing to do the Squidward meme with Philadelphia looking at New York City
Mr. Eliason, who advocates allowing single-stair construction for small multifamily buildings as a solution to the housing crisis, said he learned how common the design was outside the United States while working in Germany in 2019. After seeing an 11-story tower his firm at the time had designed, Mr. Eliason recalled, he turned to his boss and said: "Something is wrong here. Where's your other stair?" "He's looking at me, and said: 'What are you talking about? If there was another stair, there wouldn't be any room for the homes'"
Single-stair gets the New York Times treatment. @holz-bau.bsky.social reminds us why they call the last line the kicker: www.nytimes.com/2026/03/04/b... (gift link)
While strolling around Bushwick this weekend I noticed a gas station practically on top of a subway station, which seemed particularly dumb and bad.
Would you believe zoning is part of the problem?

The whole "The Dems would be a center-right party in Europe!" line is so old and moldy that having it in your apartment would open you to eviction. This was true in like 1998, maybe, but the past 28 years have seen America move significantly to the left while Europe stagnated.
