@mfru at the intersection of Solid and Activitypub there is @activitypods that is BTW pivoting to @nextgraph as we think the truly decentralized POD based on RDF is in fact NextGrsph. Of course we are biased, but maybe we are onto something

@silverpill @liaizon @activitypods This FEP-ef61 looks great!
It is most probably the only solution for the standard that will bring interop.
What we have at nextgraph+activitypods is an implementation of a DID that works for AP (it will be ready very soon).
I need to read the FEP and then let's […]

@liaizon @silverpill @activitypods Yes I know. Silverpill knows me and my work a bit, and I would like to discuss it with all of you. we have solutions of DID in ActivityPub, and also for an easy way to build social apps on top of it, similar to what Lexicon and PDS does, in the ATproto world […]

So many impressions from my first visit at #FOSDEM

One is the vast amount of stickers @nlnet offered at their stand. One stack of stickers for each project they funded. Absolutely impressive.

A mocked user interface of Instagram on an iPhone shows a post being commented on. The post is by human184 who is nearby and has a red circle profile image. The commenter has a blue circle profile image. The comment box is filled with grawlix of ellipses, dollar, not equals to, ampersand, caret, number sign, therefore logic, and interrobang. The grawlix transitions from looking like standard UI text to increasingly large, angled, and red colored. The UI below the comment box states, β€œBefore posting, I confirm my comment is:” and a list of points with checkboxes: β€œtruthful, necessary, helpful, kind”. Truthful and necessary are checked. The submit comment button of an up arrow is grayed out, indicating it is not enabled due to all of the boxes not being checked.

I'm turning 41, but | don't feel like celebrating.

Our generation is running out of time to save the
free Internet built for us by our fathers.

What was once the promise of the free exchange
of information is being turned into the ultimate
tool of control.

Once-free countries are introducing dystopian
measures such as digital IDs (UK), online age
checks (Australia), and mass scanning of private
messages (EU).

Germany is persecuting anyone who dares

to criticize officials on the Internet. The UK is
imprisoning thousands for their tweets. France is
criminally investigating tech leaders who defend
freedom and privacy.

A dark, dystopian world is approaching fast β€”
while we're asleep. Our generation risks going
down in history as the last one that had freedoms
β€” and allowed them to be taken away.

We've been fed a lie.

We've been made to believe that the greatest fight
of our generation is to destroy everything our
forefathers left us: tradition, privacy, sovereignty,
the free market, and free speech.

By betraying the legacy of our ancestors, we've
set ourselves on a path toward self-destruction

β€” moral, intellectual, economic, and ultimately
biological.

So no, I'm not going to celebrate today. I'm
running out of time. We are running out of time.

Possible End to End to End Encryption: Come Help - Bert Hubert's writings tl;dr: The European Commission is honestly asking for experts to advise them on ways to institute β€œeffective and lawful access to data for law enforcement”. If you are an expert, I urge you to apply to join this group. You have until September 1st. Do read on for more details! The never-ending battle where police and intelligence services demand more/total access to communications shows no sign of stopping, even in the face of mathematical and practical impossibilities.

If you are an expert on E2EE, join the expert panel of European Commission, and defend E2EE ! You have until the end of August to do so:
