I bought Annalise many many years ago, but never managed to get it to the table with anyone. I remember thinking that some of the concepts in there were fascinating.

Do you happen to know if there were ever any AP published about it?

I used to follow him but he blocked me for reasons which have remained opaque to me. It's a shame because I enjoyed his contributions. Never knew what the problem was πŸ˜•

Review - Violent Delights (Playtest) A game that uses chess mechanics to support the masquerade ball from Romeo and Juliet. No, really!

Striking while the iron is hot, I've just written up my experiences of playtesting Violent Delights by @backwardsttrpg.bsky.social alongside @czamboni.bsky.social

I've included a write up of our chess game/story too 😊

Pluralistic: You should be using an RSS reader (16 Oct 2024) – Pluralistic: Daily links from Cory Doctorow

Those are real problems, but they don't have to be *your* problem, at least when you want to read the web. A couple years ago, I wrote a guide to using RSS to improve your web experience, evade lock-in and duck algorithmic recommendation systems:

RSS is the forgotten but brilliant internet technology. If you are not using an RSS reader, try it out! Perfect for following blogs!

Just finished taking part in a playtest of this and it was a LOT of fun. I'm going to try to write up some thoughts about the experience shortly!

I’m searching for the original and/or rights owner of this fabulous picture of Birmingham in the early 1970s. It popped up on my Instagram feed, but I’ve been unable to track it down.

Any leads? I’m really hoping to use it in a book.

(And would much appreciate a RT please)

The beautiful physical edition of "Deadline: A Clockwork Press" @wanderers-tome.bsky.social has just arrived!

I have already played and enjoyed this GM-less, news-chronicling, and map-making TTRPG, but the newspaper-like rulebook is so beautiful.

Find it here:

I have a game in this bundle!

It's great value, and it's good to have games about love, relationships and such around in times like <gestures around>

There is another reason for using houserules - to add campaign specific rules to reinforce some things about a particular campaign (or game) you are running.

That's neither fixing a problem nor tinkering for the sake of it, but a deliberate extension or change for a particular world.

Quite a lot of hostility/romance pairings in there if I’m reading it right. Groovy!

Karate Kid 3 was especially egregious in that regard IMO, considering what everyone went through in KK2

I think it’s a fabulous idea. I don’t have any indie horror games yet (although I’m kickstarting one in a couple of months…) but I hope you get some takers who appreciate this support!
