Growing up, I had so many visions of the United States in the 21st Century, varying from something like the Jetsons to a post apocalyptic nightmare. But I never imagined it would be so very, very stupid.
Imagine your own fucking outlet, the one you literally died working for, passive voicing your own murder.

Here's what often happens: these folks don't have ANY legal recourse. They're not in jail, they don't have lawyers or judges to help, so they just get thrown away and are essentially imprisoned indefinitely with no way out. So fuck this. FUCK THIS. The word "treatment" is a propaganda lie.

'Tick a box' is maybe the most brutally on-the-nose way to lay bare the soulless nature of corporations and their cynical view of marginalized people and 'representation'.
Never has the sentiment of 'They see you as a market category to tick or untick as per priorities of the moment' rung so true.
