ppl who still commission their favourite artists even in this era where everyone is broke and genAI is being pushed on us at every opportunityβyou are appreciated more than words can express!!!
This is lovely to read.
The cover to Marvel Comics' Squirrel Girl Omnibus collection featuring Squirrel Girl daydreaming about her adventures with other heroes.
THE UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL Omnibus - I honestly think this is one of *the* great Marvel runs. Not simply because of the meta experimentation, the wit and humour, and the creative synergy. But also because at its heart it's all about friendship and found family, and it's simply beautiful for that.
Review! The Stranger #2 β The Mystery Deepens in Philipson, Patricks and Bakerβs Excellent Noir Detective Fiction Series (with a Sprinkling of Super-Heroics). www.brokenfrontier.com/stranger-2-c...
Honestly, pals, this is *excellent*. You know how seldom we review super-hero comics at @brokenfrontier.bsky.social but this self-published series is as good as anything coming out of the big US serial comics publishers right now. Highly recommended.
Why comics creators must fight the proposed censorship of H.R. 7661
(Very good) News! - The Comics Cultural Impact Collective (CCIC) Receives Arts Council England Funding β New Projects to Include Fair Pay Charter, Consultation Roundtables and Expanded Website.

This is lovely to read.
Yup. That most oppressed marginalised group in comics - the slop peddlers.
Apparently from my research newsagent distribution of US Marvel/DC comics ended in 1996. My primary source for comics for two decades. How can it be that long ago?
I like to put in a good 7-8 hours a day.

Actually, here's that announcement, and it's huge! Who Killed Nessie by me and @rachaelsmith.bsky.social has been nominated in the British Book Awards! www.thebookseller.com/british-book...
This was a fun thing to put together.

The cover to Vol. 13 of the Silver Surfer Marvel Epic Collection series showing the Surfer in conflict with Daredevil and Spider-Man.
MARVEL EPIC COLLECTION: SILVER SURFER Vol. 13 - It's JMD so lots of epic cosmic concepts and a fascinating return to the emotionally detached Surfer persona. And the Garney art is a treat. It's a run that gets a bit derailed though by fill-ins, guest scripting and some very '90s art towards the end.
For World Book Day in the UK I went as the Abyss from Nietzsche's 'Beyond Good and Evil'.
The cover of the AMERICAN CARNAGE trade paperback emphasising its themes of fighting the forces of white supremacism.
AMERICAN CARNAGE - Late stage (original) Vertigo. I thought this was excellent. Involved crime drama that keeps the readers on their toes across its nine-issue run.
I know how fondly ROM is thought of by many 80s comics fans. Perhaps a few folks havenβt seen Jean Frisanoβs covers for the ROM reprints in Franceβs Strange magazine. Clearly familiar, and sometimes, er, very familiar, & yet different enough in their own fun way.
Thatβs lovely!
The cover of the seventh SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN Masterworks collection featuring Spider-Man and the Black Cat chasing the villainous Hobgoblin over the New York skyline.
MARVEL MASTERWORKS: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN Vol. 7 - The end of the Mantlo/Milgrom et al run. Absolutely one of my all-time fave Spidey periods. Back in the street level, rich supporting cast days before all the mystic stuff and multiverse-jumping.
This was a fun thing to put together.

I've had better weeks... But that's the general status update for all of us in 2026 I imagine.
That one was a DANDY strip I think.
Yeah. Reading comprehension is not their strong suit. They also like "Josef K" too.
What they don't like using is their actual names.
