Kam Curl is headed back to the Rams on a 3-year, $36 million deal.

Kupp and Adams werenβt super compatible in the same offense. They wanted a pure deep speed player for the WR3 spot and thatβs why they re-signed Atwell at the time (but later ditched that plan β another reason it could have soured with Kupp naturally with a return).
I believe it goes in podcast form later. I'll try to share it if I see it.
Too far before my time for me to answer.
Like with Goff, the Rams could have messaged this swap better. I don't think they were planning to move off Kupp until Adams became available. Things moved fast. And the downside to a culture that makes people feel so believed in is it's that much harder to reconcile the moment they stop believing.
I think it's as simple as this:
Davante Adams was available to pursue and sign in early March. The Rams saw him as an upgrade on Kupp and an answer to what stalled their offense down the stretch -- man coverage and the red zone.
Iβll be hopping on 570 AM here in L.A. in a 7 minutes to discuss all things Rams after the Trent McDuffie trade.

But in fairness to those players, it's also a reflection of what the Rams see in them.
Curl landed a deal just shy of what Quentin Lake signed last year (3 years/$38.3 million for Lake, 3 years/$36 million for Curl).
A 2-year deal for Tyler Higbee at age 33 is meaningful, too.
Really cool outcome for Kam Curl, who signed here on a 2-year, $9 million deal in 2024 to establish himself.
Last year was a legit breakthrough.
Iβll never forget him chirping Les Snead after his OT pick in the playoff win in Chicago about how much cap space he had π
Rams GM Les Snead did not expect to sign any more deals before Monday, when players could test the open market.
Kam Curl and Tyler Higbee already signing back is an indication of how much those guys wanted to stay here.
And the Trent McDuffie trade only helped on that front.
The Rams paid a big cost to acquire Trent McDuffie from the Chiefs. And when they sign him to a top-of-market deal, the total cost will look massive.
But itβs also not as big of a cost to them as it might seem.
Let me explain: www.nytimes.com/athletic/708...
The Rams are bringing back TE Tyler Higbee on a two-year deal, and he is now the most tenured player on the team: www.nytimes.com/athletic/709...

Fleshing it out in a column right now, but itβs mostly just total cost absorption. Between draft picks and contract dollars, this is one of the most expensive moves they could make β but with a clear, near goal in mind.

The Ramsβ trade with the Falcons produced gold for the franchise. Just maybe not in the QB-centric way it felt like at the time.
They just traded a 1st-rounder for All-Pro CB Trent McDuffie and still have a 1st-rounder (No. 13) that is 16 spots higher than where they finished.
The Los Angeles Rams secondary will now be built on the backs of two kids who grew up in Southern California:
S Quentin Lake (Mater Dei)
CB Trent McDuffie (St. John Bosco)
Pretty damn cool.
