Kupp and Adams weren’t super compatible in the same offense. They wanted a pure deep speed player for the WR3 spot and that’s why they re-signed Atwell at the time (but later ditched that plan — another reason it could have soured with Kupp naturally with a return).

Like with Goff, the Rams could have messaged this swap better. I don't think they were planning to move off Kupp until Adams became available. Things moved fast. And the downside to a culture that makes people feel so believed in is it's that much harder to reconcile the moment they stop believing.
I think it's as simple as this:
Davante Adams was available to pursue and sign in early March. The Rams saw him as an upgrade on Kupp and an answer to what stalled their offense down the stretch -- man coverage and the red zone.

But in fairness to those players, it's also a reflection of what the Rams see in them.
Curl landed a deal just shy of what Quentin Lake signed last year (3 years/$38.3 million for Lake, 3 years/$36 million for Curl).
A 2-year deal for Tyler Higbee at age 33 is meaningful, too.
Really cool outcome for Kam Curl, who signed here on a 2-year, $9 million deal in 2024 to establish himself.
Last year was a legit breakthrough.

The Rams’ trade with the Falcons produced gold for the franchise. Just maybe not in the QB-centric way it felt like at the time.
They just traded a 1st-rounder for All-Pro CB Trent McDuffie and still have a 1st-rounder (No. 13) that is 16 spots higher than where they finished.
The Los Angeles Rams secondary will now be built on the backs of two kids who grew up in Southern California:

CB Trent McDuffie (St. John Bosco)
