I was victim of a phishing attack targeting people who were willing to carelessly review a "racing sim" game. It was a virus and I lost my account.

My account was then puppeted, and the trust others had for me was abused.

My discord account under "simplysalt" has just been compromised.

If you have me on discord, block me.

I think I need to reinstall windows.

Additionally, be wary of carelessly trusting sites like VirusTotal. Their scanner did not mark the culprit file as malicious.

Sadly, I have no clues on the source of the attack TwT

This attack spreads like a real-life infection:
One account gets compromised and ALL of its friends (maybe servers + dms) get attacked.

The 'culprit' was someone I talked to once, just 2 years ago.
(It wasn't THEM, their account was a victim.)

I'm terribly sorry. I've been doing everything in my power to try and get my discord account back.

Context:

Don't download a file if someone asks you to review their game!

#Discord wants your age verified in March, or they'll force teenage content restrictions on your account. They'll ask for video selfies or IDs, which "never leave [your] device" or will be "deleted" afterwards.

Discord has a HISTORY of security breaches.
