part of our theory of change for enabling new forms of collective intelligence at @cosmik.network: creating positive feedback loops to elicit the "beneath the iceberg" sense-making signals, like what articles you've been reading/enjoying
it's been sitting in my brain for a while!
exactly, collections act as a context within which specific recommendations can be made. We are hoping to get around to experimenting with collection-based recommendation sometime soon. Welcome any ideas!
what I realized was that having the right journaling container let me observe and engage with my surrounding in much more intentional ways. I seriously regret not doing this on previous trips π
was nice to finally find a home for this amazing quote by @spencer.place
margin.at/wesleyfinck....
A deep dive into how I was journaling on my most recent trip to China and what led me to such a practice βοΈβ¨

search + card type filters is a hidden gem in @semble.so recommend trying it out!
great hike!
ALSO you can follow @margin.at collection from @semble.so, which is pretty cool! Like @seth.computer's "Shared Reads" collection semble.so/profile/seth...
There are already SO MANY amazing collections to follow in semble! I'm already following 32 π
what are you picking up / learning?
time to BUILD π§
very exciting!! this aligns so well with our next semble feature currently called "Connections": directly connect any 2 URLs and see those connections (in either direction) on the semble page
so much exciting terrain to explore in the open social web! our first iteration of bringing the social graph into the picture
"Why did you decide to bet on atproto over Mastodon or similar?"
- protocol design
- scale & success of bsky
- ppl: talent + motivations (atproto talent is crazy and very pro-social, a rare combo in tech)
created a new open collection, would love some contributions!
semble.so/profile/wesl...
it's interesting how I'm getting a similar message from my online mandarin course: "trust the cognitive power of your subconscious mind"
margin.at/wesleyfinck....
in semble we are about to ship if someone saves a url to a bsky/blacksky post, the author of that post gets notified on semble. Can see this extending to anything in the atmosphere (assuming we can pull the aturi from the html!). Nothing groundbreaking but only possible b/c atproto!
haha interesting... π
semble search results with a list of users at the top saying "results curated by"
google search result for "open social web sustainability"
part of our goal with @cosmik.network is to make visible the "micro-contributions" of knowledge work / research to the information commons. Imagine if in @semble.so you could see who curated the search results? Here's one idea to make attribution part of the core experience (vs Google)
no that wouldn't be appropriate because to publish and validate the lexicon it needs to be controlled by the root domain authority, by putting it under `network.cosmik` you are asking us to maintain and publish them!
Every lexicon, every "app" on ATProto is a "yes and" waiting for your contribution to the vision. We're all first party developers.
1/ Finally wrote up βThe Story of Mendeleyβ! Most people know the tool, few know about its rise and fall. The Mendeley story provides important clues for how to build self-sustaining AND non-extractive knowledge commons, which is why I think it deserves more attention π§΅
bsky thread -> semble collection would be a neat tool!
Added a "shared links" page to my personal site: v4.jasik.xyz/links
Still lots more distance to go for more resilient community and governance patterns, but I'm super excited to experiment with community curation!
Open Collections are here π±
A new way to collaboratively curate content in the Atmosphere π¨Β
Read on to learn more about how they work π
amazing, thx!
