When you make table thead HTML you either this or you put the column labels in one line. Both are ugly.

I like this better because I see everything at once. But people said to me it is harder to imagine how it will look this way. And I get that.

My engine puts the whole HTML in one line at the end

So far done:
- basic site engine
- transaction recording (in, out and move between accounts)
- basic settings
- wants and needs mechanism
- transaction list with filters
- login

What needs to be done:
- account management (create new and close, never delete)
- transaction editor
- install script

I tough about language support for my budgeting app, but most of the text is in a json file already, the remaining ones are in the HTML templates. It will be open source. So if someone wants it in their own language it is very doable.

I might add it later tho. If I add it, it will be a setting.

The only good thing in Windows 11 is wsl. Running a virtual Linux in it when I can not dual boot or use any other Linux distros is great.

This weekend was productive. A photoshoot and making web design for my financial software.

I broke the 4 colour rule and I use an eggshell white for form panels. Also I made the tables pretty spacious. I might make a separate compact view for printing data.

Last year I bought a #PlayStation 3 and MGS4 for less than MGS Collection Vol 1.

I missed out of MGS4 for 17 years at that point. I watched it as a long movie several times. But playing it was a blast! It is still a good game.

To play MGS4 in 4k...? Will buy it again, against my better judgement.

The blog at this point posts automatically to @akosirkal.blog, to Telegram and to Discord. Not because I expect following but because I enjoy making it work like this.

Also I changed a bunch of things in the app. I am really playing with the idea to make budget categories dynamic. For example I have "savings" category. But that "s" at the end of the word calls for diversification in categories. Not that I have savings. But the app needs it.

I put CSRF protection in my financial app, also I decided to drop sha256 for password hashing, now I use PHP-s password functionality. It seems better.

I did not go deep yet but I instantly felt good about it. It is just a small file. That instantly starts up. No calling home, no 1000 processes just to work on a project. It is free. And capable 99% what I used Unity for.

But if someone wants to see that number they just have to make an account for their home, shares etc and one for the loans they are paying back. Then the number will be apparent. They can even change the code to say net worth.

Also I dropped the phrase "net worth". While the software is capable keeping track of that I find it clownish to care about that number for normal people.

Lets say you have a home and mortgage. On paper you are rich, your net worth is high. Then you go on live month to month hence the budgeting.🤡

This weekend I finished the settings page for my budgeting software and set it up so the budget calculates transactions only in accounts that have a base currency. Later I might let the user have multiple budgets for multiple currencies. But for now it is just enough.

It is not at all production ready, it just works for me as I made for me. If you use it you have to fill $handle variable with your handle. That is dumb but I was lazy to make a better admin page. The access token is still encrypted in database. So that is that.

When I finish this software I start my next game project and when it is good enough I will review my @yzahkin.games account.

Next weekend I will make the settings page of my software. Because of that I have to rewrite big parts of the budgeting to use the setup currency value. I did not think about this in advance. But it is not much of a hassle.

I do this for myself so the main target is for it to work for me. But I also want it to be useful for other. But there are things I will not work on until it is not a problem for me.

My plan is to when I make the settings page I will make a "main currency" setting. Accounts in different currencies will be a category "other" spending. Excahange from other currency accounts will be category "other" income.

I do not really see sense in personal budgeting in other currencies.

This weekend I built the budget part of the software. For now the user can create budgets, but only one is active. It calculates from monthly spending by category on the fly. For small one user stuff it is quite enough.

The problematic thing is different currencies.

I amazed how good android studio got since I last touched it. It just works. Out of the box. On windows at that. Also Kotlin is fun (pun intended)

When it will be feature complete and looks how I want it to look, I will start to use it for my personal finances. Meanwhile I will clean the code, proper comment it and release it.

My budgeting financial software finally have all the base functionality: I can post transactions and move money between accounts. All this with a table for sums at the moment of transaction so it is fast when I need a sum.

What it still needs is a budgeting solution. Web design and settings.

So Photoshop now works on Linux well with compatibility layer. Just when I switched to Affinity and payed for it just when it went free and AI. So I still have to dual boot Windows to use the Affinity I payed for and avoid slop machine.

The adventure continues as I can not sync my www-data owned database with github because git have no right to delete the database. #Linux is joy.

All this because I am strict about having a low level local user account for daily use instead of using admin acc like it is the fashion on Windows.

I am on the brink of finishing my recent application. So I am close to start my new game project. But I daily switch between 2-3 ideas I want to make. Godot is the engine that is for sure.

I still have time to decide, meanwhile I watch tutorials and refresh my GScript knowledge.

Oh and now the database was read only... I had to give right to write to it too. Wonderful. On one hand I like this. On another I am way too comfortable with windows xampp just working. I spent more with this than actual programming.

This took me an hour by the way. But it was fun. It feels like when I was a kid and the tree command felt like hacking.

Linux can be an adventure. Install apache, install php try pdo. Oh... no driver. Ok sudo nano php.ini, uncomment it. Still no driver. Install sqlite3. Can not read database file. Ok chown www-data:www-data. Now it works. I have no idea how I would know all this without StackOverflow.
