Powerup Comics has never been more vindicated
Powerup Comics has never been more vindicated
I demand 20+ years of apologies from every overeducated liberal who ever slandered the left on this topic. that's the only way we can all work together. you all need to kneel and beg for forgiveness for being so grievously wrong and playing cover for the resource wars of the Epstein Class.
Everybody these days has gotten both the relative importance of and the relationship between the Culture War and Actual Culture completely backwards
And this is orthogonal to the point but man, remember when the Joker movie was coming out and all those media outlets were treating it like it was a memetic cognitohazard that was gonna activate a million school shooters?
Hello, my name is John Hitler, I used to work for the Evil Badguy Mercenary Company, I love chatting with holocaust deniers
Everyone working for a major news media outlet: Is this man the sensible leftist candidate we've all been waiting for? But first, is prestige television failing our society?
Also can we talk about how absurd it is to be blaming Breaking Bad for its failure to present good and virtuous morals when an actually real guy with a nazi tattoo is running for senator and every bluecheck pundit out there is going "uh obviously he's not a nazi, he's just confused"
REAGAN (in the holodeck simulation where I beat Ronald Reagan to death): Who... who are you?!
ME (in cool wuxia outfit): Heheh... just call meβ okay, do you seriously not see that
GEORGE H. W. BUSH (T-posing): see what
CW: Guns
Play nice
Someone else mentioned that a lot of people probably inform themselves on Walter White by watching Breaking Bad Coolest Hype Moments clip compilations on youtube
Nah I think you read it right imo
I would argue that it's stronger in a way to let him go out on his own terms but it all ultimately doesn't mean anything and he still dies unmourned and unloved. Like, to me that's the entire message. Walt does it his way, he even "gets what he wants," and in the end he loses everything that matters
I wish I could find that post someone made that's like "the ideal form of media is one where there's a picture-in-picture of the creator loudly informing you that they don't approve of what's happening on screen whenever something bad happens"
π§‘PsyKellygy𧑠βͺ@psykellygy.bsky.socialβ¬ Walter White did not start off as a monster. He was a humble teacher/father/husband who lived a modest life. He became a criminal, for principled reasons, who evolved into an irredeemable monster when power and greed corrupted his values. I have always loved the show and still do.
Titan Wolf π FWA, TFS, MFM βͺ@titanwolf.bsky.socialβ¬ Absolutely agree. Walter White is introduced to us as a terrible teacher, father, and husband. It is one thing to have a sympathetic character with flaws, it is another to convince your audience they should be sympathetic to a fundamentally garbage human being who somehow gets even worse with age.
In conclusion, Breaking Bad is a land of contrasts
Superman is in there too!
When you think about it, Ozymandias won at the end of Watchmen because his psychic squid plan averted World War 3 from happening, he got everything he wanted
βͺimpembo gabecubeβ¬ βͺ@impemboganecue.bsky.socialβ¬ man went through hell and ended up shot dead with little to show for it besides protecting exactly one person, who was a two bit hood he took a shine to. i dunno how much more punishment he needed to make it obvious that being a sociopath kinda sucks βͺ Danielle Kurtzleben βͺ@titonka.bsky.socialβ¬ He won. He got the money for his family.
Sorry but I think if this is your ultimate takeaway at the conclusion of Breaking Bad that you are simply not media literate enough to be labeling any show you don't like as "amoral"
Funny you bring up Goku because in the video that the OP is springboarding off of, they apparently use footage from Dragonball Z, which I suppose makes Goku amoral now (bad father figure, gives senzu beans to villains so he can fight them at full power)
This is all because the Trump administration is making AMVs out of airstrike footage, as though nazis won't try to claim shit like My Little Pony as party of their culture. Good luck limiting yourself to media so pure that nazis won't try and wipe their ass all over it because they feel like it
Is American History X amoral because a bunch of neo-nazis took the wrong message away from it? What's the cutoff here exactly?
I mean, as someone who regularly dips my toes into the war story pool, I'm acutely aware that it's nigh-impossible to make an anti-war story that doesn't on some level glorify war, but I also think declaring the enterprise amoral because people are dipshits is an asinine endeavor
It's actually supremely depressing to go "this show is amoral because it didn't end with the main character receiving the proper karmic punishment for his actions didactically enough to prevent idiot losers from taking the wrong message away from it"
"Do you NOT want to vote for the nazi??? Cmon guys!"
american politics is two octogenarian led parties posting AI slop at each other
announcer: that is just way too sloppy of a blowjob. and this crowd is letting them have it
announcer 2: i can't believe we haven't had a stoppage
announcer: there's the flag, finally
I mean this guy in particular will be when he burns his house down, yeah
Walking up to the door of an Army mom to tell her that her elite paratrooper got turned to pasta sauce when his plane was sawn in half by a ZU-23 during the Based Spartan phase of Operation Epic Fury.
condi heard american bombs exploding in the middle east and floated to the white house the way a cartoon character is summoned by pie on a windowsill
They got this guy out here in front of the tetris block
I mean I'm sure it'll work for that purpose, it's just that it's no longer going to be in the realm of "wellll, I guess I can justify this expense" and will instead be in the realm of "no I can't"
Calling my shot now: this thing's gonna cost over a thousand bucks on launch and be the deadest on arrival anything has ever been
