I'm one episode behind with Starfleet Academy. I've just watched the Our Town episode.
When this series began I thought it a fun Starfleet 90210-style franchise, but as the episodes fall it has become so much more. Excellent writing and performances, and an inherent understanding of what Trek is.
John Scalzi, Martha Wells AND Robert Jackson Bennett this weekend in San Antonio??? Each of them would be every SFF con’s dream GoH, and somehow @mysapl.bsky.social scored *all three* for this Saturday’s Pop Madness. 👀 🤯 See you there! cc: @librarypalooza.bsky.social @nowherebookshop.bsky.social
I haven't I just assumed it was because my family are all very stressful!
Same. I'm primary carer for my 2 disabled kids, so they're able to call/message but no-one else's can get through.
Good news, it'll also be livestreamed for two weeks after the event.
Thanks, Lee!
This looks great! If I were in town I'd definitely be there.
It really can't. But I can see that would work for some/most.
Alas, not really possible (or at least hugely inconvenient) with my situation.
Oh, I couldn't do that
I'd worry I'd fall asleep during it and be unable to find my way back to where I left off!
But in code, to make it more of a challenge...
It seems to be. Early days, though.
Heh. That's brilliant!
I have to take my phone to bed, so the temptation to doomscroll is always strong, but I appear to be (mostly) stronger.
I've been successful at this maybe 80% of the time (but that's an increase of 80% over last year, so Ill take it) and as a result I read more for pleasure in the first two months of the year than I did in all of 2025.

I've not slept well in years. Part of that is that my sleep hygiene is terrible, so the one thing I promised myself this year is that after getting to bed I'd try to stay off social media and read a physical book, instead.

Currently listening to the audiobook of Mike Carey's 2025 book, Outlaw Planet. Terrific book -- as I've long come to expect from Mike. The narrator (Stephanie Cannon) is also excellent. Highly recommended.
Nice! She's sensational!
It's nice of them to stagger these out, kinda like announcing Strictly contestants www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...
And fuck the BBC. This was a pre-recorded event. There is *zero* reason his tic outburst couldn't have been silenced or bleeped out. *Very* poor judgement by the broadcaster.
*Of course* people will be offended by what was shouted out, without understanding why it happened.
And *of course* it wan't Davidson's fault.
Both things can be true at the same time.
Tourette's is a cruel disability that can hurt both the sufferer and those around them.
So disappointed by all the ableist rhetoric following John Davidson's racist slur outburst at the BAFTA's this weekend. Cummings' mealy-mouthed apology wasn't good enough, either, though I think it probably came from a place of good intent.
Just wondering, who all is coming to Emerald City Comic Con?
Just a reminder;
1) I do not charge for signatures
2) I will sign as many books as you bring
3) If you are having anxiety or other physical issues, we always have an extra chair and will watch over you and call help if needed.
This is probably how we ended up with Avenue Q.
What an amazing answer! She's incredible.
Interesting factoid: when the musical came out, the studio that owns Kind Hearts threatened to take action, but the makers of the musical successfully argued that they based the show not on the movie, but on the book that the movie was based on ("Israel Rank: The Autobiography of a Criminal").
They adapted the original source material into a musical just over a decade ago ("A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder") and they also had one actor playing all the members of the noble family being bumped off. And it was *glorious*.
I just saw this trailer and it is far from glorious.
You can nominate a full season in Dramatic Presentation - Long Form. (Severance was nominated in 2023, Wandavision in 2022, Russian Doll and Good Omens in 2020, etc...)
I will do so! She'll come around, I'm sure.
I'm very late to the party, but FROM on NowTV in the UK is one of the most enjoyable TV horror series I've seen in years!
