Would it have been so much worse if it had been a nuke? Consider the fact that birth deficiencies and rates of leukemia and cancer in Iraq, post 2003- invasion, are worse than what was observed in Hiroshima. In Japan, rates of leukemia rose by 660% in the years following the bomb. In Falluja, it increased by 2,200%. The toxicity of war has never been greater, and we are in no way reckoning with the scope of the horror that's been unleashed.
The real damage comes years later, with elevated cancer rates, leukemia clusters, respiratory disease, cardiovascular failure, neurological damage, reproductive issues.
This is chemical warfare, with delayed carnage. Worse than radiation sickness.
I am ashamed to be American today.

I find it extremely difficult to believe that anyone experiencing what honestly looks like the apocalypse is going to regard it as a form of liberation or that anyone responsible for it actually cares about how Iranians regard it at all.

You can't solve any of this in a meaningful or lasting way if you keep capitalism. Trump is only a symptom and replacing him with some neoliberal will just apply a congenial bandaid to the status quo for 4-8 years before the dial is cranked even further.

People like to say that people in the US read too much theory. But you go to any org you will realize this isn’t that true. Be the person that educates yourself and doesn’t wait for others to do it for you. The more educated we all are the more truly democratic these orgs can be if that makes sense
Educating yourself is one of the easiest ways -and something you that you have control over- to contribute to the movement. You will be a better socialist for it and you will help make more and better socialists. Dont discount that work and don’t leave it til later- these things matter now!

The second one says "9 killed in Israeli city near Jerusalem after Iranian missile strike" where "9 killed is highlighted with the comment "stated as fact" and "Iranian" is commented with "actor named."

It's especially ironic to post this quote right now, given his administration helped depose Mosaddegh in Iran in 1953 for the crime of nationalizing the country's oil industry. In 2013, the US admitted that it paid protesters and bribed officials to carry out the coup.

Every major disaster in this country over my lifetime has been self inflicted by right wing ideologues with just enough complicit or inert Democrats to enable or ratify them. That's why we've been on this doom trajectory for the last ~50 years and it'll keep getting worse if that doesn't change
