Wind in their sails: Billionaires’ SailGP event spared from Houston government’s budget cuts - Halifax Examiner $1 million grant to Sail Nova Scotia to sponsor the event, which allows a handful of rich and mostly white men to come to Halifax Harbour this summer to race their high performance boats, was spared.

SailGP, owned by the Ellison Family, owners of Paramount who just bought Warner Bros, are HUGE Trump supporters and are decimating CBS and soon CNN.

They will not receive any cuts to their $1 Million from the province and another $1 Million from Halifax to hold their 2 day event in the harbour.

The only reason Tim Houston is allowed to cause all of us so much irreparable harm in big ways....

is because we're all allowing him to.

Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston smugly walks through the crowd that had gathered at Province House to protest his disastrous cuts to Arts, Culture & Heritage.

He did not address the crowd despite MLA Sue LeBlanc asking him directly during session if he would.

Many thanks to Theatre Nova Scotia & NS Arts Coalition for having me in to photograph today’s protest.

These cuts hurt everyone, myself included.

Bring back 15% HST and the Bridge Tolls and "Have Some Guts and STOP THE CUTS!"

'Medical misogyny': NDP table bill for task force on women's health after Houston budget cuts - Halifax Examiner "We need to fix a fundamental systemic disparity that stems from centuries, thousands of years of women's voices being ignored," NDP Leader Claudia Chender said.

NDP's Claudia Chender and several women from across the province who’ve had trouble accessing proper care say the current system of ignoring women’s pain and health care is β€œmedical misogyny”,

β€œIt’s cruel and almost defies belief,” Chender said.

A Lieutenant Governor (LG) in Canada can remove a Premier by exercising the royal prerogative to dismiss them, typically if the Premier refuses to resign after losing the confidence of the Legislative Assembly. This is a rare "reserve power" used only in extreme constitutional crises, such as when a government acts against the public's best interest.
Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia +2
Key Aspects of Removal:
β€’ Loss of Confidence: The primary scenario for dismissal is when a Premier loses a vote of confidence in the legislature (e.g., budget defeat) and refuses to resign or call an election.
β€’ Constitutional Crisis: If a Premier refuses to advise dissolution of the legislature after losing confidence, the LG may dismiss them to ensure the government is acting within constitutional bounds.
β€’ Actionable Basis: The LG may intervene if a Premier engages in illegal actions, breaches constitutional conventions, or is unable to maintain a functioning government, acting as the ultimate guardian of the provincial constitution.

While the LG has this power, they are generally apolitical, and such actions are rare in Canadian history.

it also takes and it sucks to say this, but with the rising costs of everything, it takes $$$, and you gotta make sure you are strategic about how much you're spending when you still have 3 years till the next provincial election.

True but the election is 3 years away, that’s a long time, gotta be strategic, don’t wanna pour everything into now and then everyone forgets in 3 years.

I wish we could hold a Vote of No Confidence against Tim Houston and the PC Party for the damage they are doing to our province

Unfortunately you'd need a majority of the Legislature to do that vote and PC party currently holds a supermajority
