Love the demo. Can't wait for the full release. 👍

And even if they actually knew the price (which I doubt) you need to account for VAT which is of course included in all EU prices. So $850 for the more expensive one - very high Alza markup. They are basically guessing 2TB will be ~$650 on Steam.
Alza is not an official retailer of Valve. Nobody is outside of Asia. They completely made the price up because they resell Valve hardware from the official store at higher markup.
I didn't mind it either. Other than that there was no conclusion for the black ops guys and why main characters did not end up in prison or more likely dead to cover it all up.
I lately started using Startpage because it came as default with Waterfox browser and so far it seems alright. No AI to be seen. A lot of people like DuckDuckGo.
For sure. However since Steam Frame will run on ARM Linux it also won't play Android games natively (probably using Waydroid or something similar). 😅 No option is perfect.
Steam Frame will most likely be able to play it via FEX directly from Steam. It's not a demanding game.
Let's go! Break the chain and be free and open-source!
My game is released and I will be a millionaire. 🥲
Asunder did not work? I remember using it to rip a couple of my music CDs to FLAC.
I needs a lot of love but that is unfortunatelly not something a theme can fix. There are some older PRs improving the UX of these components but we need a hero to put it all together. github.com/godotengine/...
I now realized that all of these are not really consoles. 😅 They are retro computers but with the majority of new software being games. Commander X16 should eventually release in a cheaper "console form factor" but that project is kinda stalled now.
There are actually multiple modern retro consoles you can write games in assembly ro. Commander X16 or Mega65 come to mind. Also Commodore 64 Ultimate is now available for purchase after the community acquired the Commodore brand.
Why not to learn Blender while making assets direcly for a Godot game? You don't have to wait a year to start learning Godot.
Sounds like a "penalty" for being a general purpose system.
It was asked multiple times on livestreams that Emi does. No, currently there is nobody who could work on it. But they are open to any skilled graphics programer to pick it up. github.com/godotengine/...
My goal was not to "defend Steam" but it seemed to me that some people actually believe that Valve is just taking 30% without any additional costs related to distribution.
It's not that long ago when games were distributed on CDs and developers only ever saw less than half of the final price.
My point was that serving reliably petabytes of data to millions of users at 10GBps speeds is not free. Based on known costs of this from companies like Netflix I would not be surprised if it was up to $50 million dollars a month. Yes, Gabe is rich, but the whole service also burns money fast.
Are you also considering distribution costs and features Steam offers which other platforms don't have for that 30% cut? EGS only takes 12% but the platform itself is so inferior to Steam that if you release there and on Steam you will make more money from Steam even though their cut is bigger.
Vertex flashlights give me a lot of nostalgia but to be honest I am now more fond of per pixel lights. 😅
Wow. It's insane to me that you were able to make this alone in 48 hours. Did you make all assets for it as well in that timespan?
Game devs who learned game dev with Godot joining big boys and convincing them to contribute features relevant to them is how Godot actually gets into major pipelines. Most Godot contributors today are smaller indie devs who have different needs than big studios.
Thanks for clarifying! I vaguely remembered incorrectly then. 😅
That's so cool!
CSoftproducts are only using Godot 3 for Psycho Patrol R because they developed Cruelty Squad with it and have a custom toolset made specifically for it. I vaguely remember them writing that they would like to work with Godot 4 but it would be too much of a hassle to port everything.
No worries. Godot 4.5 Dev 1 alsor released only two weeks after Godot 4.4 was out. You have approximately 6 months to try out 4.5 before 4.6 Stable is out. 😅
Bevy is really cool but be aware that it's still heavily in development and there are frequent API changes. Also no editor or scene format yet so there will be a lot of code to handle stuff you could do in a couple of clicks in Godot. But it's fun to play with ECS for sure!
Well... yeah. There was also just a two weeks gap between 4.4 and 4.5 Dev 1. It will still take around 6 months for 4.6 to be released as stable.
Good luck and have fun!
It's possible that some folders have been marked as exceptions so .exe files might still open from those. If you run secpol.msc from Windows+R prompt and then look into Software Restriction Policies → Additional Rules then in Path Rules there could be some accessible folders listed.
