Well fucking great. I'm the secretary for my library's Friends board. The President and VP are stepping down and we have no contenders to replace. I am NOT stepping up b/c bandwidth. Curious to see what will happen.

I've thought of one day running my own virtual writers conf but actually pay the presenters rather than this stupid fucking model that is being used now.

I do not have the bandwidth to do half the shit I'm doing atm so that's a small pipe dream.

My reputation IS building but I do not have the audience to do this and ethically, I would not want to bring people into these virtual confs under this agreement.

Yet, it remains "the standard."

They are betting you are willing to do this for exposure b/c of their own reputation will bring people's milkshakes to the yard. I've done the confs in the past and I recognize several big presenters. Maybe they are fine with bringing bodies in for the take, but I am not.

I'm also really fucking annoyed b/c several well known virtual writer confs have a pay to play model with financial support by known brands BUT they are not paying their presenters. Presenters get paid when THEY bring in bodies to pay for the conf.

This is fucking bullshit.

Orgs get away w/ this shit b/c who is going to read a 10 page contract of LegalZoom vomit? Not most! I've been paid to present workshops long enough to know to read the fucking contract so I don't get fucked over on my IP.

I'm building my worth here and I'm worth more than federal minimum wage!

I would in short be paid less than Federal minimum wage if number is below 20 attendees (over 20 means I get 1/2 the take so huge difference); they want irrevocable right to distribute my content outside the workshop; and more.

I am not a lawyer, I do not pretend to be a lawyer, but I am smart enough to figure out basic legalese (and I don't have a problem researching said legalese if need be).

Apple TV is now showing F1! I added the calendar to my calendar so I can track when the races (also trials and prelims). I haven't really gotten into F1 in years.

I DID go to an F1 race when it was in Indy back in 2007 and it was AMAZING. I would A++ do it again.

In the most librarian/ADHD thing I've ever done (outside of cataloging my 100+ t-short collection), I'm organizing my Kindle titles into collections by genre and if the author has more than 1 title, they get a folder, too. I have about 300 titles left to organize out of 1700.

Yesterday someone left a very intricate gift wrapped bag of Hershey Kisses on my car. None of my colleagues got a bag. The director says she thinks she knows how it is but I want to be kept in suspense. Per her, patrons flirt all the time with me and Ass. director and we're oblivious.

If you're curious as to why I know this, Mr. Lisa and I are going to Ljubljana, Zagreb, Budapest, Vienna, Munich, and some city in Slovakia I can't remember. I'm looking up bookstores and public libraries to visit. I also buy Coke in different countries and check the Big Mac pricing.

We have a Google appliance that gets activated by saying "OK Google." I use it for weather, timer, and dad jokes. Mr. Lisa is having a conversation with it about whether or not the AI is exploited. She (our appliance voice is female) is giving him the run around. Mr. Lisa is also stoned.
