Sat down and watched Hamnet with my mom, cause I heard the final song from the soundtrack circling around and found out it came from this movie.

I wasn’t ready for how much it was gonna destroy me. Oh my god, I cried so hard… it was a brilliant film. I strongly recommend it.

I never have because the art programs I use don't offer them, and I'm too poor to afford different programs. So if I absolutely must scale something in my work, I create a new layer and draw over it and erase the old one so it isn't fuzzy.

That’s also very true! The movie gets a lot of flak for the character designs and writing, but overall I think it was a way for them to write a story about a queer character in a way that wouldn’t have been heavily censored back in the 2000s.

Thinking about this really makes me wanna rewatch it.

Ahh. See, I have no problems with Pokemon styled games, the more the merrier I say. Plus Nintendo is sleazy trying to patent the "creatures fighting at your side" thing.

My first impression of Palworld was that Luxray copycat and I just saw worse things from there. At least they're trying now.

I'll be honest, I really didn't like Palworld because I saw A LOT of creature designs that looked like recolors and slightly altered Pokemon. It's not so much as defending Nintendo, it was the lack of originality. But, it's been a while since Palworld came out, I wonder if they changed some designs?

For a movie that came out in 2004, I feel like there was a lot of queer subtext with Lenny’s character.

It was trying to present someone’s struggle with being queer (vegetarian) when everyone around him was straight (carnivores) and he felt pressured from his dad to be like his brother.

Cause his reactions after telling Oscar and then his dad are easy for queer people to understand pretty quickly.

“What do you mean ‘That’s it’? You’re the first fish I ever told!”

“You always wanted me to be like Frankie. I’ll never be the shark you want me to be.”

Anybody remember the movie Shark Tale? Like, yeah the character designs were really weird, but something I think about is how Lenny’s story was presented, and why I feel like there was much more depth to it than him just “being a vegetarian”.

I feel like it was a different approach to being queer.

If I buy a product, it’s mine. Period. I don’t care if it’s a “boomer take” the steady abandonment of physical media and going full digital was a giant mistake. And it makes me more grateful for secondhand stores like Video Game World.

That’s not the point. Nintendo is a greedy company that abuses consumerism to the point they can get away with people not owning the physical products they purchased with their own money.

It’s cool to see people being hyped about the new Pokemon games, but I still can’t help but be put off by Nintendo’s shady business practices. Cause you don’t even get physical cartridges for games anymore, just a key to activate it, and you don’t even “own” your Switch 2.
