Also I really love their tech - their newest bikes had key cards, PINs, turn signals, and USB-C charging for phones, none of which Bosch does!

With gas prices soaring, some people might search for cheaper transportation options. In many cites, a bicycle is a cheap and easy way to get around gas free. Give it a try.
Good news about Rad - they had a lot of issues, but before Lectric they were the real mass market ebike option!
And with their new potted batteries they hopefully will have a much better safety record!
This is why I chafe at jokes about how high gas prices are part of the "war on cars." People won't suddenly stop driving because gas prices are high. We need to make bicycling safer, we need to make transit more accessible and efficient. We know that safe bike infrastructure entices people to bike!
how it feels taking public transit rn
New from us! Mayor Brandon Johnson endorsed us in 2023, now he is against our safety. The City of Chicago opposes HB2454, a bill that would make bicyclists intended users of all roads only on a disconnected network of streets rather than all streets.

i spent all summer organizing for dedicated transit lanes against typical toronto nimbys who claimed that "emergency vehicles would get stuck in traffic and more people would die"
anyways, here's real life:
Half the line to get into the building in portage park, the other half behind me was half a block long. Thereβs a yard sign in the lawn at the park that says βwe support portage park safe streetsβ
A kid holds a handmade sign on cardboard that says βbikers belong hereβ
Informative sign at the meeting highlights traffic safety stats in portage park: From 2020-2024, 247 people were killed or seriously injured in crashes in portage park including 55 children and older adults. 96% of crashes involving someone walking or biking caused injury or death. Tools to improve safety include mashing speeds and increasing awareness of vulnerable road users.
People are clustered talking to one another and looking at signs in the portage park senior center.
Big turnout at the Portage Park bike network meeting! I heard lots of support, so Iβm hopeful for safer, more connected streets π²
Ran into friends from many circles, which is so nice, love the #bikechi community

Happy birthday, Chicago, the city of broad shoulders, big attitudes, and one great lake
You brake by letting go of the accelerator, which uses the motors to brake via regen braking. So to coast you need to have the accelerator half pressed basically
Also, put the car in an Eco mode! EVs can accelerate super fast, but most of the time you don't need that and it'll make people sick if you use it (speaking from experience)
Every time I see Mike Simmons, he's doin something I like.
You're going to love his video interview, I even quizzed him on the street grid after he said he navigates without GPS π
A smiling man stands with his bicycle on a concrete pier along a grey, choppy lakefront under an overcast sky. He has dark skin, locs, and a short beard, and is wearing a black puffer jacket, a grey knit scarf, blue jeans, and tan sneakers. His bicycle is a grey bike featuring drop handlebars, disc brakes, full fenders, and a black rear cargo rack.
A closer shot of the same man leaning over his bike and smiling wide, with the lake behind him and some seagulls blurred on the pier.
βI have days in the summertime when I take the whole day and I just ride through Chicago. I'll start in Uptown or West Ridge and I'll go all the way out to Beverly. And those are some of my favorite rides.β π§΅
If we design cities to enable people of all ages to move freely, efficiently, and safely from A to B, the car dependency culture as we know it would crumble.
Hard same. And if I miss early voting I can vote day of!
Why have I seen no pics of the whip π (and does it have a full size outlet in the back? Apparently some trims have that)
As a brand new electric vehicle owner in Illinois, I endorse this legislation.
Please, make me pay more in taxes to support transportation funds. I, and many others like me, can afford it.
And I LOVE the VMT-based measurement!

I finished editing this today while sick and half brain dead, but the footage of his bike is great π€ͺ
I wish there was Zipcar in the states but just for little electric cars like this. Imagine how cheap it would be!
Honestly fitting for how it looks though, I couldn't believe it was real π
I can't believe I'm laughing at energy memes, but here we are
