New Zealand Symphony Orchestra publicist. Award-winning journalist, editor & reviewer. Ambivalent Cavoodle owner. Not to be confused with the Aussie comedian, musician & actor - unless he wins an Oscar or Grammy.

I suspect that the bulk of my followers don't realise I'm not the Aussie comedian. 🙃 Coincidentally, my late father, who was also named Tom Cardy, was a stand-up comedian who performed in the UK, Australia and New Zealand under the stage name Tommy Gordon.
Taking our fingers out of the cryogenic chamber. 🎸🎸
The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra's education team are preparing for another exciting and busy year around the country. Before Christmas RNZ Concert caught up with the team's animateur Chris Lam Sam, who explained his special role.

I remember The Gordons once played a lunch-time gig in the Otago University's student union building. It was so loud that most of the students fled within the first few minutes. Those of us who remained had our first experience of tinnitus - but a good gig nonetheless.

😔One of the best Kiwi filmmakers of the past 50 years, a superb film reviewer, a keen mentor to many, & a passionate musician - & always a pleasure to meet & interview. Most of all: an all-round top bloke. He will be missed by many. My thoughts are with Costa's whānau.
What perfect album came out the year you turned 16?
And to celebrate here in Aotearoa... Another classic from The Front Lawn!
I first saw this in the early 70s when I was a kid. While I managed to watch it in its entirety & loved the concept, I was scared the entire time. I didn't realise for decades that it was filmed in colour. Few homes then had colour television, so I always thought it was filmed in black-and-white.

And my nomination for best album cover of the year is... (and the music is great too!)
RIP Dave Ball - who, from my hazy memory of 27 March 1995, sported a white jumpsuit on stage as a member of The Grid while performing at Wellington's old Winter Show Building in support of M People!

This may be apocryphal, but I've been told that a few people at the Iggy Pop and Jimmy Barnes gigs years ago had half the crowd walk out after Iggy Pop's set.
