Trump is undermining the people who run our elections. Here’s how we can fight back
Donald Trump’s actions threaten free and fair elections. As part of his effort, election administrators are being undermined as the federal government overreaches its power.
New @democracydocket.com Op-ed🚨Pam Smith warns election officials are facing unprecedented federal overreach: "they are under pressure unlike anything most of them have ever seen.”
And how to fight back: “The antidote to manufactured confusion is knowledge.”

Title slide reading ‘Mail In Ballots: What Voters Need to Know. Recent changes at the US Postal Service make timing much more important this year. This is especially true of voters with disabilities for a few reasons.” It also features a blue “VOTE” sticker icon.
This image reads: “USPS recently updated their postmarking guidance. This doesn’t change how ballots are mailed, but it does mean postmarking may not always happen the exact day USPS gets your ballot. When it comes to submitting your ballot, we are encouraging folks to give yourself as much time as possible prior to state deadlines with upcoming primaries and the midterm elections.”
This image reads: “Why does this matter? Mail may take longer in some places. Because USPS has combined some mail processing centers, postmarks might show up later than expected, even if you mailed your ballot on time.” An image of a clock is also present.
This image reads: “Don’t wait. Plan ahead. USPS recommends mailing ballots at least 7 days before the postmarking deadline.” An image of a public USPS mailbox is also present.
Mail-in voting rules haven’t changed, but timing has.
Know the USPS postmark guidance updates, plan ahead, and protect your ballot.

What You Need to Know About the SAVE Act
President Trump is once again urging Congress to pass the dangerous SAVE Act. Let us be clear: This is blatantly anti-voter legislation that will block millions of Americans from casting a ballot, undermining our union and our democracy. #SOTU

Claims about widespread noncitizen voting are not supported by evidence. That’s because noncitizen voting is practically non-existent, and these claims are meant to shake Americans’ trust in our elections. #SOTU2026

This affidavit was much weaker than I suspected. No allegations of intent. No allegations of election theft. No allegations of foreign interference. No allegations that the statute of limitations doesn't apply.
At worst, it alleges human error, during a pandemic, that didn't affect the outcome.

Video Trump has no power to 'meddle with elections': Legal scholar
ABC News' Karen Travers and the Brennan Center's Eliza Sweren-Becker discuss President Donald Trump's call for Republicans to "take over" voting around the U.S.
"The Constitution is very clear. It gives states the power to set the rules for federal elections, and it gives Congress simultaneous power to make those rules or even override state rules. What it does not do is give the president any power over federal elections."

Black-and-white portrait of a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr in a suit and tie. On the left side of the image, white text on a black background reads: “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” The quote is attributed in the image to MLK Jr's 1963 book titled Strength to Love.
Though times may feel challenging or controversial, it's important to know that our actions in these moments CAN make change.
We stand with members of the disability community, and with members of ALL communities seeking justice, today, and every day.
