that's an investment that i don't think a lot of film composers will understand out of the game. a lot of game companies have no business hiring these rando big name composers if they're not going to put in the work
i was not impressed with anything i heard, im also a generational hater tho
music should take you on a journey beyond "cool vibes". all of the tracks i've heard are one tone, not very dynamic, generally all hit the same palette/emotion.
they sound like loops that came from someone jamming on their eurorack

my opinion about hiring a non-video game music composer is that it needs to be worth it.
not just name recognition, but the composer needs to be doing something no one else is doing to justify paying a premium to have them work on a game.
did marathon do that? imo no
i have complicated feelings about Marathon's music, Bungie chose to outsource the game’s music instead of using the in-house team. that decision makes it hard for me to separate my feelings about the marathon OST when a good portion of the in-house music team got laid off (obviously related tbh)
This is the culmination of 10 years of work on my end. I hope you all will check it out! This project has had hundreds of hours of work put into it, and thousands of dollars, and SO much love, energy, and attention to detail.
- The sacred geometry in the video/project has an actual mathematical meaning to the music, using the same underlying math as Destiny's "Alpha Lupi Array," which does the same
- Features a full set of animated visuals, created from scratch, authentically recreating the Destiny artstyle. Even using the same exact real-world map that Bungie used for the D1 director/"starmaps" (which is a nautical map of Puerto Princesa) as a base.
- The short story is narrated by Tim Dadabo, the voice of Halo's 343 Guilty Spark
- The short story has a full set of ambient music scored under it, featuring more than 25 of the original source pads and musical sounds of the Destiny 1 soundtrack
- Hope for the Future, the song at the end, was sung by Laura Intravia, the actual vocalist from Destiny and Destiny 2
- The short story had its first draft contributed by one of the actual Destiny writers (who has asked not to be named but trust me)
- Features a full piano version of Music of the Spheres, created using the original sheet music for MotS under license from Bungie
- Aforementioned piano version also uses the same virtual piano from Destiny
