Why do people do this?! ๐ญ
I was really surprised about that. I've never been super impressed by deckbuilding video games because I've played a million deckbuilder tabletop games. I thought tabletop people would find Slay the Spire nothing to get excited about, but I was wrong.
Watching detailed scene-by-scene breakdowns of Columbo episodes, complete with DOB and filmography for virtually every supporting actor, is more absorbing than I would have expected if you'd described it to me

I just saw that GOG has Impossamole! ๐
I had an Impossamole poster on my wall for years as a kid/teenager because it was included with a magazine. I've never heard of it again in any other context until now ๐

Ko-fi subscribers can spend the weekend relaxing with a series of articles covering everything from PlayStation dating sims to modern CRPG systems, Game Boy cameras, and Sonic The Hedgehog! Come take a look!
I've decided to also start doing a #RandomBoardGameSaturday since I have millions of those.
The first random draw gives us Walnut Grove, one of my all-time favourites
Today's #RandomGameSaturday gives us Red Dead Redemption!
I haven't played the sequel but I played this one during the plague, and was surprised (though I shouldn't have been) to find that it's pretty much GTA: Cowboys
For example, almost every game had a Mario World style world map.
I can't think of any modern sega game that does this. Sega games tend to be faster and more arcade-like, SNES devs, more slower paced and cartoony in tone.

Next finish: Greymarsh
Very much in the vein of the gamebooks of yore, though it allows more backtracking than those usually do. Some parts have a frustrating amount of trial and error, but on the whole I enjoyed it.
I keep seeing people posting that "fact about yourself that sounds fake but is real" thing, and I can't think of anything interesting enough about myself to answer it. Everything about me sounds real.
Right?! I've had that a couple of times. What can possibly be making them 20 minutes late for the first appointment of the day?!
Eek, almost forgot! My article on untranslated Czech DOS adventure Colony 28 is now available for everyone! This is an amazing game, you've got to read this:

๐งตKo-fi subscribers have SIX articles to enjoy today! I thought you might enjoy sitting down for some weekend reading :)
First up is this piece on a lovely untranslated DS Shiren-like, Dramatic Dungeon: Sakura Wars! In spite of the genre change it's a wonderful sequel:

With the tiniest amount of thought it could have gone the opposite way.
"I saw some cool pics/an interesting article over here, it's well worth a couple of pounds to take a look if you can spare them"
I use this at work, I use it in social conversation, I use it when teaching board game rules. I originally picked it up at some kind of shitty business conference about 20+ years ago, but it's actually a good tip.
They might not even be consciously aware this is happening, but the wording implies that if they didn't understand, it's because *I* didn't explain very clearly, not because they're stupid, so they feel more ok about saying no.
Does that make sense?
You know what's a great phrase for when you're explaining something? "Does that make sense?" I use it all the time.
It takes the onus off the listener (contrast something like "do you see what I mean?") so they're less likely to falsely say yes to avoid looking stupid.
Congratulations moth!
Later battles are going a little better
It's truly astonishing how much difference sunshine makes to my mood. As I've got older, I've found winter more and more of a gruelling slog. Spring is transformative. A weight is lifted.
One of the things I like about where I'm currently living is that in spring or summer you can open the window and hear nothing but birds.
Well, often also the neighbours drilling and buzz sawing because everyone in the world is doing renovations.
But occasionally just birds. Like today!
Get in the booth, Shinji!
"University Challenge: You may (not) confer." is my #weeklytshirt for this week! Listen, they're only getting weirder from here. Hopefully this finds my people.

It's certainly a believable ad! The kind of thing Sony might have done back in their edgelord days
My first battle in Rise of Piracy ๐
To be fair, it's an early access game so this stuff is bound to happen
Remember when paninis were everywhere?
Sun and birdsong. Spring is so close. I reckon one more week and there'll be that shift in the air where it goes from harsh cold to a softer "I'm starting warm up" chill
My thought exactly. You just KNOW this guy can't wrap his head around the concept of not wanting the wrong gender forced on you while complaining about having the wrong gender forced on him
Oh shit, new Majuular video just dropped!
