If you're like me and wondering whatβs really going on with trade barriers across Canada - look no further.
Thanks to Build Canada volunteers, itβs all out in the open now. Transparent, trackable, and long overdue.

Love this collaboration with The Civic Project + @buildcanada.com
Canadians now have transparency on which bills fuel growth or stall it.
@miss604.com Hey! Thereβs a @buildcanada.com meetup happening in Vancouver soon - would love if you could spread the word. It should be a good group of people, would be great to have voices like yours there. luma.com/e2q61khs
I wrote about the Billes family. Two brothers who started Canadian Tire with a dream, and Martha Billes, the force who kept it Canadian. Her story and impact deserves to be better known.
Happy to volunteer with @buildcanada.com to kick-off this new project. My Dad's family is from Brantford, so it felt fitting to write about Alexander Graham Bell.
We're looking for more writers - if you want to get involved, signup!

Hey Andy did you get my email last week?
Volunteers built this tracker for Canadians. Itβs time to cut through the promises and rhetoricβand hold government to real results.
Hey comms team, you should update this account so it uses the markcarney.ca domain instead of bluesky long name. Will be better for search too. Here's how:

Cambridge, Ontario got some serious location love in last nightβs #TheHandmaidsTale. Between the aerial shots and the story, it was one of the best episodes.
@pistachio.bsky.social I was just thinking of you. After connecting with @miss604.com , I found out she wrote Bluesky for Dummies. Felt like I should connect her with the OG Twitter for Dummies author in case you aren't already. Full circle moment!
I've been waiting for a memo like this. We're entering a new era of Canadian innovation, time to do big things with generational talent.π
"Ensure at least 50% of IP created by Discovery Visa researchers is commercialized in Canada within five years."

"Canadians are taking a collective gut-check about who we are and who we want to become, and weβre seeing signs of clarity."
If you read one memo from @buildcanada.com, make it this one by @lucy-hargreaves.bsky.social. No matter your politics, improving government productivity is something all Canadians can get behind, especially now. Take a look and share your suggestions.

It's alarming how many Americans have been indoctrinated by Trump to believe that Canada is 'ripping them off.' This kind of rhetoric is laying the groundwork for a level of resentment I never would have expected.
2020: anti-mask protests
2025: anti-musk protests
I know many have left Twitter/X for their own peace, but Iβve kept my account. Mostly as an observer, watching patterns of hate and disinformation. Itβs difficult. Sometimes I wade in, trying to chip away at falsehoods or find common ground despite the hostility. I feel like it's my patriotic duty.
I'll let @canada-spends.bsky.social reply. It's better to improve vs. dismiss, so thanks for your comments. Anything else you'd like to see just send them a message, I know they are listening for feedback.
π¨π¦ Canadians, thanks to amazing volunteers, you can now easily track where your government spends. This isnβt DOGEβitβs about transparency and making sure our programs and services are as effective as possible. Check it out...
I know it's early days, but are there plans to open source this? We are making a lot of public policy changes up here in Canada, and it would be great to partner in some way on the tech.
Where can I buy my "Canada is nasty!" t-shirt?
βYou can achieve the most amazing things if you donβt care who gets the creditβ
Even my corner store is selling 'Canada is not for sale' hats now.
Nothing beats the simple joy of opening the windows after a long winter, letting in fresh air and a sense of renewed purpose.
If itβs not obvious yet, Trump has his sights set on annexing Canada.
It's not about the border or fentanyl, as that was just an excuse to circumvent Congress.
It's not about tariffs. The US benefits equally (probably more) from a free trade agreement that he negotiated.
The goal of sharing ideas isn't for everyone to agree with you. Itβs for some people to learn from youβand for you to learn from them.
Itβs better to risk social disapproval than to sacrifice self-respect.
Popularity is how many likes you collect. Impact is how many lives you enrich.
I love this photo of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reflected in a picture of his father by @ascotti.bsky.social. He was not a perfect leader, no one is, but I never once questioned his moral compass or love for our country. I believe history will be kind, and PM Pierre Trudeau would be proud.
Congratulations to our next Prime Minister! I'm very happy to hear you are stopping the carbon tax and capital gains. Canadians are ready to build.
Some of his readers have asked Mike Masnick @mmasnick.bsky.social why his technology news site, Tech Dirt, has been covering politics so intensely lately. www.techdirt.com/2025/03/04/w...
I cannot recommend Mike's reply enough. It's exactly what readers need to hear, what journalists need to do.
