It me!
I saw this was coming out and was interested (love Grell and have never read more than a few issues of WARLORD), but Omnibii are not my favorite format. Still, if itβs <800 pages and printed on newsprintβ¦
So excited to be able to share our conversation with @geneluenyang.bsky.social, one of the nicest and most talented creators in comicdom!
Finally, I'm glad to see that perennial punching bag Don Heck is finally getting his due. Treat yourself to his westerns and romance comics. His greatest sin was being part of Marvel's birth and not being named Kirby, Lee, or Ditko. Sad that he's not inducted under his birth name, "Don Hell" tho. π’
Milestone Media was such an extraordinary achievement, especially for its era. A Black-owned company doing unapologetically BIPOC superheroes and getting distribution from DC is a hell of a trick. Denys Cowan is a comics revolutionary. milestone.media/legacy-histo...
Dave Sim is wrong about nearly everything outside of the art and business of comics, but he's an absolute genius of the medium and a lifelong champion of creators' rights. Image might not exist without him; that's not an exaggeration. He deserves to be in the Hall. www.comicsbeat.com/the-one-abou...
Gerry Conway accomplished more in comics before his 20th birthday than most writers achieve in a lifetime. He's also a kind and generous soul, fully endorsing @kellysue.bsky.social's CAPTAIN MARVEL and working with Black Lives Matter to reclaim the Punisher logo: www.comicsbeat.com/gerry-conway...
I posted about THE ETERNAUT a couple of days ago, so you already know how I feel about Hector German Osterheld. Any excuse to keep saying his name and talking about what he did is good for our souls. www.fantagraphics.com/products/the...
(He also was kind enough not to sue me ~25 years ago when I stole concepts and imagery from BRAT PACK for a band I was in.)
Rick Veitch had the unenviable job of following Alan Moore on SWAMP THING and crushed it. So glad we're finally getting the rest of his run. His King Hell Press stuff is legitimately mindblowing. The platonic ideal of an indie cartoonist. www.comicsbeat.com/swamp-thing-...
Tom Palmer is legit legend who improved everything he touched. He was usually credited as an inker, but "embellisher" is closer to the truth. He brought out hidden details that others missed. The Comic Book Historians podcast has a great interview: comicbookhistorians.buzzsprout.com/140033/episo...
18 new inductees into the 2026 Eisner Hall of Fame, and I think this is one of the strongest classes in years. A few who I am particularly excited about: (π§΅) www.comicsbeat.com/eisner-award...
@thecomicscanon.bsky.social If you guys ever want to do an episode on this, SIGN ME UP.
(Even if it does have a big dumb Netflix sticker on it, which is hopefully removable.)
HΓ©ctor GermΓ‘n Oesterheld and his four daughters were "disappeared" by the military junta twenty years after its publication and were never seen alive again. We owe it to their memories to keep their story alive through this remarkable piece of art.
The timing could not be better for @fantagraphics.bsky.social to bring THE ETERNAUT back into print. It's a thinly veiled metaphor for Argentina's descent into fascism in the guise of a ripping good sci-fi epic, which starts quietly, as most apocalypses do. www.fantagraphics.com/products/the...

Folks, I don't want to alarm you, but Someone On the Internet Is Wrong.
Hey, I know one of those guys! Congrats @ibrahimmoustafa.bsky.social βΒ it looks awesome!

New episode of @marvelbythemonth.com dropped this AM. For how absolutely bizarre WAR IS HELL is βΒ not to mention the fact that I'm pretty sure it was Chris Claremont's first ongoing Marvel series! β I'm very surprised that it's not better known relative to other Marvel '70s weirdness.
Damn, Jack Kirby even predicted the demise of Twitter. What a visionary!
I used to joke that going to Times Square and seeing everyone walking around wearing Yankees caps was the Red Sox fanβs equivalent of one of those alternate-reality science fiction shows where the Nazis won WWII. I guess I was closer to the mark than I thought.

Look, you can say a lot about Hogan's legacy: he was racist, he was terrible to his colleagues, he put himself above other people, he firmly believed in the supremacy of white people, he was a bad wrestler, his life was a net negative for society.
That's it. That's the post.
Iβm in!
