Holy crap, Mamdani is finally doing something to bring down sidewalk sheds that will actually sort of work! Sheds will no longer be required more than 40 ft. away from buildings, which will be a help to NYCHA and other towers-in-a-park complexes www.nyc.gov/mayors-offic...
Trump, with a fortune built on fraud, fundamentally believes that it should be legal: Perpetrators are winners; their victims are losers. So of course he agrees with fraudsters' claims of innocence, and of course there's an industry to call his attention to the fraudsters most loyal to him.
Trump, unlike his predecessors, invariably characterizes losses as illegitimate. So why should he change anything?
At least lying to the public is her only job. The others—except Vance, of course—are all nominally responsible for running large organizations.
If this were *any* other country, Trump would immediately lash out on Truth Social with insults and threats. But it's Putin, so there will be no response.
Gonna keep our reserved seats for THE BRIDE! on Sunday because it sounds like quite an experience—as @alisonwillmore.bsky.social puts it, "a huge swing of a movie." But 😬😬😬
I don’t think I’ll get over the rage I feel that we traded relative prosperity, security, scientific advancement, the possibility of upward mobility, and somewhat functional democracy for the protection of a felon child-rapist. Incandescent, unending rage.
The new Adobe Flash Player!
What else can Trump do to distract from this? He already released more Epstein files, started a war—two, if you count Ecuador—and fired Kristi Noem.
My assumption is that Vance can retain the MAGA base and Christian right but not the ~30% of low-engagement voters who—despite everything!—see Trump as a sui generis business titan and celebrity. Without his boss's decades of omnipresence in American cultural life, Vance is just an obnoxious troll.
Curious whether Trump, the next time he's asked about gas prices, again invokes the imaginary figures—$1.98! $1.85!—that have long been lodged in his head
Three weeks left on the job—plenty of time for romantic getaways with a certain Special Government Employee

Maybe today we'll see Noem publicly walk back her claim about Trump OK'ing her ad campaign while *not* walking back her claim about her boyfriend not actually running DHS
Does that mean it will cost taxpayers more when President Pritzker nationalizes SpaceX?
But what Mr. Trump gains in secrecy he loses in message control. On a range of issues, from the goals of the Iran strike to Mr. Trump’s objectives in Venezuela or even in threatening Greenland, there are a blitz of answers. Inconsistency is sometimes celebrated by the administration as wily strategic deception, rather than as a failure to think several chess moves ahead.
Correction: This makes *five* different rationales in eleven days.

She won't say no in this followup either! I mean, *now* she's squeamish about lying to Congress?
But he cited recent initiatives by the White House to address the concerns of Americans who don’t feel they benefit meaningfully from a booming Dow, including steps to bring down the cost of some prescription drugs and proposing retirement accounts for Americans whose employers don’t offer them.
Ah yes, "a booming Dow," basically flat for 2026 and underperforming nearly every overseas stock market

A man asked me last night what publishing needs to do for literary fiction to begin appealing to men again. I said, as nicely as I could, that, with over 2,000 books published every Tuesday, of which many would appeal to men, it’s not a publishing problem, it’s a men problem.
