My Iranian grad students are incredible humans. The home of their families is being bombed and all communication has been cut off. Yet they carry on almost as if itβs a normal day.
(Yes, I am checking in with them and letting them know it is ok not to be ok right now)

Iβm glad to be riding my bike to work today, while my partner takes the electric car. Quitting gasoline over 5 years ago was a good call.

Childβs drawing of a person.
I was told my faculty picture was getting too old, so I commissioned my 4-year-old to draw me a new one.

In a way, they already do, but donβt realize it. A long time ago I had a really long car commute. I arrived to work tired, stressed, and was definitely less productive than I am now when I get to have a pleasant 15 minute bike ride, enjoying the outdoors.

Interesting reading the comments. Iβve been at Western 10 years (started at age 30, now just turned 40). Working conditions have significantly deteriorated in that time. Iβm not sure if Iβll make it to age 50 if things keep going the way they have been.

Interesting. It really sucks when an arterial road is the only possible route (e.g. crossing a river or rail tracks) and it has no bike lanes all winter. Too much traffic and speed to ride the road.

How fancy, Toronto. In London, bike lanes outside of downtown are not even intended to be plowed.

Agree. Itβs nice to have Level 2 at hotels to save time. But I always book near a fast charger anyways since Level 2s are not that reliable at hotels. Many front desk staff donβt know they have them or how to turn them on. Or they are just broken.

Thinks that all those drivers who are able need to spend 6 months cycling to work or in town before they can get behind the wheel.

It would be super great if official organizations like the Ontario Provincial Police could communicate travel advisory information via, oh, I donβt know, a WEBSITE, instead of only using Meta and X platforms!

Yup. I was out in west London area last night and the roads were coated in ice. I donβt imagine thatβs changed on the secondary roads. Bike is a no-go today and while the buses are running, I canβt imagine they are close to on time. I checked the live tracker in my area and no buses were visible.

It's time to embrace climate conspiracy
Trumpβs Venezuela oil play exposes what climate reporting has documented for decadesβif weβre willing to say it out loud.
"The actual story of #ClimateChange is one about coordinated power, deliberate deception, and bought-off governments that repeatedly act to promote an industry that is poisoning humans and the environment for profit. It just so happens to be a real conspiracy" heated.world/p/its-time-t...

Cool, letβs make cities worse for the people that live in them and pay taxes to them, in case someone wants to drive there to access its amenities without paying for them.
