can't wait for this, "the details" by ia genberg is one of the best pieces of translated lit coming out of the nordics in recent years (high praise!)

i really liked it on a recent re-read!

but have in the past gotten an ick or feeling of being duped as its one of his non-fiction pieces which likely had a lot of fabrication, which can zap the fun out of it if you're in a certain mood.

A fun one from Olav H. Hauge i think about a lot:

BERTOLT BRECHT

A versatile fellow:
playwright, actor, poet
His verse was handy to step into,
it stood on the door-step
like a pair of wooden clogs.

My pal & translator, Jordan Barger, is on it! He's currently working in Hauge's home of Ulvik right now.

great write up from the best site.

i'm still grappling with where it stands in his oeuvre... outside of his Big 3 great works, this may be my favourite so far.

Forthcoming from New Directions in October: my translation of LONDON by Louis-Ferdinand Cรฉline! Probably the most difficult book of all the 50+ books I've translated, for many reasons...

One Thousand & One, Kari Hukkila. 2016. Review by Gregory ConwayOne Thousand & One by Kari Hukkila,Trans. by David Hackston.Contra Mundum Press95/100**** **** A lot of my winter driving this holiday season has been soundtracked by thโ€ฆ

I wrote about one of the best novels I encoutered last year. One Thousand & One by Kari Hukkila. (Trans. David Hackston).

An essayistic novel with truly unique form. It is part wittgenstein biography, part history of natural disasters & part tempestuous love story.

On Attending Karl Ove Knausgรฅrdโ€™s โ€œThe School Of Nightโ€ Book Launch. By Penelope Dieppa. I overheard a woman behind me describing a Russian film, set entirely in the Hermitage, taking the viewer through centuries of Russian history, done in one shot. She bookended hโ€ฆ

In a big step for the website, we sent Penelope Dieppa to the New York launch of The School Of Night, where Karl Ove Knausgaard was in conversation with Patricia Lockwood.

An insightful #KnausgaardUpdate.
