Just back from the Generics and Stereotypes conference, and yes, I know it’s a cliché—but it really went great. A genuinely warm, stimulating atmosphere, with just the right number of participants to allow deep, cross-disciplinary insights, while keeping discussions focused and personal 🤩

In Naomi's experience, making data openly available "leads to recognition. I’ve been contacted many times based on my data. I see that it makes a difference in how people perceive our discipline and how I’m evaluated in my field."
Researchers often complain they don't receive recognition for adopting open science practices. However, there are positive exceptions!

István Kecskés' work on situation-bound utterances and pre-fabricated units of speech remains essential for anyone in pragmatics and discourse analysis. Later on, we stayed in touch; he was always interested in what we went on to do. Grateful for his generosity and insights—he will be deeply missed.
Very saddened to hear about the passing of Distinguished Professor István Kecskés. I had the privilege of spending time at Uni Albany in 2018, during the final months of my PhD. His guidance through thorough feedback & weekly meetings on my chapters was invaluable.
