Into the Zone poster. The exhibition’s title refers to the hugely influential film Stalker (Dir. Andrei Tarkovsky 1979, USSR), which was released in the UK 45 years ago. The film features a mysterious, guarded Zone, an edgeland where nothing is quite what it seems, and follows a guide and two clients as they enter and try to navigate the Zone.

The three filmmakers who saved the world Forty years later, we catch up with the directors of "The Day After," "Testament" and "Threads," films that shocked viewers and changed the minds of politicians.

It started as a simple idea: I wanted to talk to the directors of TESTAMENT, THE DAY AFTER and THREADS on the impact their nuclear-war films have had on the world 40 years later. For the Los Angeles Times, I heard their stories and how fearful they remain. www.latimes.com/entertainmen...

Tree stumps on a sandy beach

Tree stumps on a sandy beach

Ghosts of trees. There are lots of interesting tree remains at Covehithe, where the land is crumbling into the sea. Some making defiant last stands. I'll probably post images of those but I was more taken, in a way , with the vestiges of stumps that were hardly there at all.

Last year, for the centenary of Benjamin Christensen's HΓ€xan, I took one of my old lino cuts and made a new and improved (?) version. I'm currently working on a new run of prints that will be available in the shop soOoOon...

Here's a restful and cheery soundscape to start your weekend. 🎧

Episode 75 - Bobbing boats on the estuary at Wrabness
Sit under a tree on the footpath on the beach. Hear the water and masts of boats tinkling in the breeze.
