Energy insecurity. Higher bills. Exposure to catastrophic economic consequences of Trump's wars.

That's what happens when you fail to shift fast enough to renewables, and cut back on support for clean energy.

Let's cut bills & create jobs through a clean power revolution.

Some wise words from Adam here. The Greens have a real shot in this by-election but canvassers may be missing a trick if they aren’t explaining to voters how a Green victory will shake up Westminster for the better, rather than just saying β€œvote for us to beat Reform”. I hope they’re doing both!

'For The Greens to Win, They Must Rage Against the Political Machine' Green Party member Adam Ramsay argues that the Greens need to prove to voters that they are a better way to shake up Westminster than the pseudo-radicals of Reform

For Greens to win in Gorton and Denton, they must rage against the political machine. Me for @bylinetimes.bsky.social: www.bylinesupplement.com/p/for-the-gr...

I have a friend who’d like to go up and campaign too, and would love to join a crew if there is one - if there’s an Oxford contingent going at some point let me know! (I’d love to go myself but fear I’m already over-scheduled).

NEW: Suella Braverman has defected to Reform UK, shocking the many people who were sure that she had already.

It was studying environmental science that made me realise we needed to tackle inequality as one of the main drivers of environmental breakdown. Also, the points Zack makes very much reflect the majority opinion in the UK, including those who prioritise the environment. I see minimal conflict here.

At the root of all our problems stands one travesty: politicians’ surrender to the super-rich | George Monbiot There are many excuses for failing to tax the ultra-wealthy. The truth is that governments don’t tackle the problem because they don’t want to, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

It is the source of so many of our evils: the astonishing concentration of wealth in the hands of a very few, and the immense political power that gives them. We cannot solve our problems until we tackle it.
This week's column.

Thanks for doing this. Would love to hear @cathobbs.bsky.social or someone else from @weownit.org.uk on your podcast talking about the practical options for taking back privatised services into public/community hands! Any chance…?

I interviewed Harjeet for @newint.bsky.social last year, about how countries of the Global North need to do more to support the South’s energy transition. Awful to see this kind of sensible policy advocacy targeted by the state. Solidarity with Harjeet and his colleagues. newint.org/energy/2025/...

I am so so delighted that Cllr Ed Mundy has joined the Green Party.
This takes us up to 9 councillors at Oxford City Council.

Ed is a hugely experienced and principled councillor who will be a huge asset to @oxfordgreenparty.bsky.social

Welcome Ed!

They sing: β€œThis is for our neighbors who are locked inside, together we will abolish ICE.”

I’ve heard from campaigners in a couple of recent council by-elections here in Cardiff that they’re finding surprising numbers of people wavering between Green and Reform. They’re obviously and rightly angry at the status quo. Time to offer them ambition and hope, not fear and despair.

I spent a lot of time in 2025 working towards this - so happy that the money is secured and the installation work will (everything crossed) start soon! Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to this effort, it’s such a well-used building and these improvements should make a real difference.

I think you’d be surprised. Out doorknocking, I’ve met a significant minority of people who are angry at the status quo and just want to vote against the establishment. They aren’t very aware of Reform’s actual policies, they just want to give Labour & Tories a kicking. Very winnable to the Greens.

Sir. This is a heroic move. I’m so sorry you’ve had to make this decision. It should never have been forced upon you. But you’ve been true to yourself, your values and the people you care about. In the end, that’s as much as any of us can hope to be. Huge love and respect to you. Xxx

Where does airport expansion fit into the Government’s zero carbon vision? Along with refusing to rule out the Rosebank oil field and failing to retrofit homes fast enough? I’m glad they’re still pursuing electricity decarbonisation, but this is hugely undermined by their other actions.

Here in the UK, nothing is publicly announced until every vote is counted. It means longer waits for results but avoids misunderstandings over changing margins as more votes come through. I was shocked when I first found out that US elections have running totals and media calling races early - wild!
