Ok, this is a very strange answer, but for me it's about the poetry. "Joy and Scotty" doesn't roll off the tongue syllable and sound-wise as much as "Scotty and Joy." When referring to couples, I've used both orders. For instance, I think "Becky and Roger" sounds better than "Roger and Becky."
