Look I'm not saying forcing human tissue to endlessly play a simulation of fighting in hell is evil.
I'm just saying the guy they interviewed looks a lot like Stephen Holstrom.

Big same. But now I've jumped ship to Linux and it certainly does have a bit of Jank and a learning curve.
But I can customise my "start menu" again and that means a lot to me.
Eep, I hope you're okay at least?
Also, and I say this with a massive sigh, I am a fucking turbo nerd and the ideal VR setup for me would sell exactly one unit.
To me.
And instantly bankrupt the company selling it.
I am learning to accept this but it's a process.
On the other hand, Valve have made games on Linux... not 100% smooth yet, but an order of magnitude smoother.
So if anyone can make inside-out tracking not suck, maybe it's Valve?
I really don't love that it's going from the lighthouse tracking to inside-out. Also don't care about wireless or streaming or running anything locally on the HMD.
I wanted a lighter index with better optics, more resolution, and a more integrated Linux experience.
It's a low bar to clear but I'll take it.
Tbh the most unrealistic part of That One Episode is someone threw up in suit like my god do you know how much this costs
It's not inaccurate, it's world-building.
I wasn't allowed to use Wikipedia as a source in school and that's probably in the top 10 most factually accurate websites that exist now t.t
I sat outside and touched grass in the sun
It's nice. I like it. I hear birds.
I can get you into Rob Bottin's private archives
This is the same basic GOP playbook I've seen my entire life. When your popularity is in the toilet back home, start a protracted war someplace foreign.
Ideally someplace with big oil fields your frat buddies can "rebuild the local economy" with.
As an outsider here observing from (relative) safety, I've seen exactly one republican in my lifetime that seemed to have a shred of human decency, and he had to be imported from Austria.
Or maybe he's just a better actor than we thought.
And it also looks a bit like I'm playing a modern version of Uplink, so that's nice
The envision GUI running mondano on linux
The irony that this is the year when a Windows Mixed Reality VR headset will work better under Linux than Windows.
Note that I do not say it works particularly well. You will have fuck around with stuff called WMR_RIGHT_DISPLAY_VIEW_Y_OFFSET and the like.
But it IS good enough for VRChat.

Oh gosh, I've not heard anyone talk about metrosexuals in about 2 decades. I may repurpose this as a term of endearment.
A crude speech bubble with the text βthis is my dadβ, on a green background for easy isolation because Bluesky doesnβt let you do transparency
Put this on pornography that contains penetrative sex to instantly make it a crime under the proposed amendment to the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008

What in the Innsmouth and chips is this, though.
The JJ mystery box looks like it would hold a mystery. It is the shape of box inside which a better writer would have placed their most clever twists and turns.
But the JJ version is empty. It is the hollow shell around which a facsimile of a mystery story has been heartlessly constructed.
Something about geese and commons comes to mind.
doodlemancy @doodlemancy on cohost (rip): "the script at this point is just company: we're going to do something really extremely bad for our customers and possibly even people who aren't our customers. we think this is good an enormous, furious internet mob: we hate this company: we'd like to clarify our intentions. just to be clear: we're doing the same thing but we'd like you to hate it a little less now"
I miss cohost :(
Yeah I mean I don't _like_ commuting but it does enforce some level of walking or riding that I just have to do.
Forcing myself to do anything physical for my own sake is a massive challenge, but when it's externally imposed that bypasses the part of my brain where the bad worms live.
Also this is the point where I get to remind people that Empire Strikes Back was released to MIXED review. It's only after Jedi that it became the favourite.
Because it's only HALF of the story.
I mean I can kinda understand the whole production was a messy scramble. Especially with Carrie Fisher dying.
But yeah, i really wish they'd trusted the RJ was going somewhere. I actually don't mind JJ as a director, but as a writer I loath him and his bloody "mystery box" process.
You know i am really enjoying being forced into an office occasionally?
Because when i DO have a day working at home, now it feels like a nice treat instead of just blurring into another day in the same routine.
