A noir-toned background image of a rainy city skyscape, birds flying with a backdrop of smeared neon lights, with a detective standing on a rooftop in long coat and hat with one arm raised. Right-justified text on the image reads "open call for novellas, opens: 4.01.26, closes: 4.30.26." The Ruadán Books logo is centered above the text.
We're opening to novella manuscripts on 4/1/26! We're looking for dark thrillers, crime noir, & dark speculative fiction—if you've got a complete novella (25k-40k words) that fits, we want to hear from you.

Closing to subs February 28th
Now that our 2026 issues are filled (and our Feb 2027 issue is mostly stocked as well) we’re going to close the submission gates at end of day on February 28th.
We’ll be aiming to get responses out to everyone who submits in February (or who already has a story in the queue) by the end of March at the latest.
Submissions will re-open on July 1st!
📣📣📣
We've gotten so many great stories that we're now scheduling pieces for our Feb '27 issue (and probably our June '27 issue for at least a couple stories in queue!) so we're going close the submission gates for a few months.
Keep sending us stuff till end of Feb, and we'll see you again in July!

I believe the whole point of making art is to be delighted by making it. Or perhaps more precisely to be gratified by making it--some art, for instance, comes from anger, and while anger is not delightful it is important to express, explain, convey, etc. That expression is gratifying.

The Gone World by Tom Sweterlitsch was pitched to me as a read-alike for Event Horizon, and DAMN if it didn’t scratch that itch! Finished it last night and will be thinking about it for a long time. I am picky about time travel books but this was near perfect.

A flat lay of books and little ghosts merch on a red background.
It’s the Little Ghosts’ annual NO RETURNS SALE!
The Little Ghosts are hibernating from Jan. 1-4th, our little bookshop is closed and quiet for the week. But online is our biggest sale of the year! Visit our website and look for the January Sale Category to find deep deals on books, stickers, and merch. January sale items are 45% off, Super Discount items are 65% off! We are selling these books at cost or less. If you’re looking for something that isn’t included, treat yourself to 10% off absolutely anything on the site. No discount codes necessary, deals automatically applied.
Did you know… Little Ghosts Books will have been open for 4yrs in March and we have never returned a single book to distribution/ a publisher. Returns lead to costs accrued by indie publishers, royalties lost to authors, and books being pulped. Every year we instead do the NO RETURNS SALE, offering 45-65% off titles to get them in the hands of readers and avoid the dreaded book returns.
Orders placed during the annual hibernation will be packed for pickup for no additional cost or shipped out on Jan. 5th.
Thanks so much for your support of our little spooky bookshop! Many more updates for 2026 headed your way real soon.
Enjoy the sale!
