this is how we achieve singularity
Trump will absolutely not stop unless he is stopped. It wouldn't take much to stop him—he's a coward. But if those who have institutional power don't act, the current crisis will get even worse. He has no self-control and is giddy over the death and suffering he's inflicting.
move slow and repair things
This writer, who lives in Maine, has been investing a fair amount of time in getting to know Graham Platner and reporting on him. i'm going to buy them a coffee for the labor they put in, and continue to listen and learn from their writing

And then I imagine like 4 generations from now. writing itself loses meaning and legitimacy in the ways we’ve understood those words since writing began
I’m sure! I guess I was thinking of all the people just adopting AI as we speak… how many do the basic thought exercise of imagining where this takes us in 2,3,4, or 75 generational iterations of writing papers, populating social posts, running wars etc all on gen AI feeding on itself over time
AI as a cultural force is currently eating non-AI old culture in order to produce new cultural forms but is anyone at all thinking about the next iteration when AI munches on AI in order to AI (and on and on)
These are the 4 things AI can do well:
•Clean up your email inbox (badly)
•Give my shittiest neighbor (Alan) something to talk about at a party
•Tell a 12 yr old to kill himself
•Incinerate a school at 10:16 AM on a Tuesday
You can see why we need to base our economy around it
what i experienced in rural AK is how thin the progressive organizing infrastructure is in these spaces, candidate pipelines are nonexistent. like there's a reason Mamdani & AOC came out of NYC and that is the density of organizing rising up out of overlapping multiracial communities
i should just say, i spent 10 years in a similar community in rural alaska developing a similar type of business alongside similar types of people as graham platner. i had veteran neighbors and comm fish friends in AK with his same profile pretty much

something to consider is that ryan grim is not an influencer in maine. platner is likely polling above his competitors because he is a known quantity in a small state and he is doing a ton of in person events where he comes off as credible to the audiences he is trying to win
omg that grand finale!!!! why is this not an olympic sport
Yes! I have a mild-medium interest in this topic, and it still took personal experience in this housing market and 2 years of following Mike Eliason's posts and buying his book for me to wrap my head around "single stair" -- people are busy and juggling so many ideas and priorities
Chile has rebuilt access to welfare around a municipal “one-stop shop”. Gestión Social Local has reached 10 million poor and vulnerable people across 339 municipalities, trained 10,000+ municipal workers, & processed more than 13 million benefit requests since 2019 buff.ly/GI3jGpI #ShareGoodNewsToo
so i received a Fed Ex tariff bill for $17 after tariffs got smacked by scotus, do i have to pay it

Montreal's Festival des Films sur l'Art 2026:
"Bicycle Face"
-exploring the relationship between women & bicycles, paying tribute to women’s freedom.
Its starting point is a historical episode from the late 19th century, when a so-called “bicycle face” was invented to discourage women from riding.
I toured several of these newer developments when I moved to PDX and was looking for housing, but at that time my long Covid was so bad I got exhausted just viewing multi story units. Not to mention those 3-story plus roof garden ones omg
One thing I’ve really learned on bluesky is how zoning shapes housing architecture! Obvious once you think about it. It’s cool that Portland allows dense builds in residential neighborhoods, but it is WEIRD that they are all these awkward two story towers that don’t work for our aging population
Antwerp is an Effortlessly Cool City Toured Best by Bicycle in 2026.

I could post a lot on the Work Session on how to use the unspent Housing Bureau dollars, but I want to state a guiding principle:
I am working towards a Portland where you can afford to live in the neighborhood you want, and where you move only if you want to.
Everything follows from that.
wow these TWO
fun read for the “every gop president in my lifetime starts wars” posters, who really don’t seem to want to reckon with Clinton’s imperialism, Obama’s drones, or Biden’s genocide

Congrats to Rep. @katiejonesmpls.bsky.social and family, who biked to the hospital last week and came back with baby Hans. Here's what she told me about the ride:

US, late 1800s, Kittie Knox was among a small group of African American women cyclists in Boston. Kittie broke taboos by wearing knickerbockers, which she designed herself #WomensHistoryMonth
I like to guess the prompt they used to generate the text, always ridiculous and embarrassing
also great candle circle, saving as a template for my next manifestation, I always suck at typing these out and give up
He also said he wants Portland city government to raise millions of additional dollars each year to exclusively support music, dance and theater productions by imposing a fee on streaming service giants such as Netflix and Spotify.
