A compromise, staying 30
minutes between permanent daylight and permanent standard time, was first mentioned to me by @markkamstra.com). It’s less extreme than permanent daylight or permanent standard and maybe worth the pain of always being 30 minutes out of sync with nearby states/provinces.
Here’s a piece that argues permanent standard time would be better for BC than permanent daylight time (which some circadian rhythm specialists say fits better with people’s internal clocks).

British Columbia has adopted permanent daylight time. Some other locations that previously tried eliminating time changes later re-imposed them. It will be interesting to see to see whether the new protocol sticks in BC and whether other jurisdictions follow suit.

My guess is this falls under force majeure and therefore out of the airline’s control. They should provide you with your choice of soonest available rebooking (even on a different airline) or a refund but not likely meals or hotels. Best of luck getting where you need to be.
