This was so special. The beautiful Bury Psalter was written circa 1400 in the Abbey of St Edmund and is one of only two books from the pre-Reformation Abbey to remain in Bury St Edmunds. Since 1704, it has been owned by the local grammar school who have now gifted it to @stedscath.bsky.social

Catching up on Small Prophets, finished it this evening. I loved the combination of innocence and wildness - nothing is normal and yet everything is familiar. Beautiful.

Finally made it across to Gainsborough’s House in Sudbury to catch the Stanley Spencer exhibition. I love the new National Lottery funded extension - what a stunning addition to this historic rural little silk-weaving town x

This is hospice care.

It’s helping families make treasured memories. It’s allowing anyone, anywhere to embrace the life we have left.

And it’s yours to protect.

Help it live on by leaving a Gifts in your Will to a hospice close to your heart.

Anselm Kiefer, master of spectacle, on the lost women of history The artist’s stunning portraits of female alchemists shine in Milan’s bomb-scarred Palazzo Reale

Thank you to @ftweekend.com for flagging the absolutely stunning Anselm Kiefer exhibition at the Palazzo Reale. We were in Milan for the Olympics but this was a treat that we would have missed without seeing the review. Le Alchimiste, on until 27 Sept.

Someone told me lately "Bluesky is just like Twitter." I argued that was untrue on the basis that last time I had a Twitter account most times I got a new follower their bio said "single & looking for fun" & here when I get a new follower it tends to say something like "professor of rare moths".

No-one seems to have noticed, but many of the core developments in the Mandelson/Epstein story these last few days have been broken on this website. @pickardje.bsky.social and @petergeoghegan.bsky.social are both posting each breaking development on BlueSky, not X.

Okay things are getting serious this week. It's Monday night and it's 5pm so it's time for EPISODE 5 of 'How light is it in #Orkney at 5pm this week?'

BRACE YOURSELF.

We started the year in darkness, but already it's THIS LIGHT! πŸ’‘

A drawing of the people in the text: a line-drawing, in colour, in a gently surrealist style. He has added a green stripy hat on the man. The text: A lady pretends she isn’t reading the book of a man on beside her on the bus, who pretends he isn’t holding it so it’s easier for her to do so.

For many years, @400footghost.bsky.social has been drawing my observations, simply because he wanted to respond. And for many years, folks have been asking me to share all of them in one place. So here they are - his beautiful pieces inspired by my words. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! πŸ§΅β€¦

Hello teachers.
Today I recorded 35 poetry workshops for you to use with your classes. 10 are for Early Years, 25 for KS 1,2 and Year 7. These are to go with the 11 that are already up on our channel.
Thanks to

I was on a busy train back from London last week. Two young men got on the train and started to play cards and asked everyone around them if they wanted to join in. Soon there were five people (from three different countries and all ages) cheerfully playing Cheat. It was joyful.

National Hospice Legacy Campaign Our national campaign invites people to protect hospice care by leaving a gift in their Will to their local hospice.

@madlinsudn.bsky.social I saw on LinkedIn that you are looking for good legacy digital campaign examples - I think the @hospiceuk.bsky.social β€œThis is Hospice Care” was a great campaign, a collaboration of over 100 hospices so we all used the resources & video:

If you're new here, welcome.

When Bluesky had its first big push, I made starter packs of charities and charity sector orgs. Here's one of them. Most of the accounts here are regular users and worth a follow.
