Yes! I couldn't remember the "Crazy Guggenheim" name. Just that he was a drunk. And yep. He was on Jack Benny and did USO shows and radio with Bob Hope. He was in a bunch of movies, too.

My post didn't even cover everything. His friendships with Roger McGuinn from The Byrds and Mick Jagger. And his cousin Frank Fontaine - a famous actor on radio, tv and movies in the 40s, 50s and 60s. Frank was a regular on the Jackie Gleason show as a singer and actor.
I had a great time.
It was very fun and interesting.
My post had gotten too long to put everything in there. It was really interesting. 4 hours and it captivated me.
His cousin was Frank Fontaine who was a popular radio, tv and movie actor in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. He worked with Jack Benny, Bob Hope and Jackie Gleason.
It'd be a good book.
Where it all started for me.
Husband told me not to even look. Fuck this shit!!
Hopefully, you don't get sick.
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ I rolled!
We talked for hours. It was very entertaining and was like watching an interesting biopic. He asked us to come to his birthday dinner in 3 weeks. His daughter from LA will be there. I want to hear some of her stories, now.
6. His daughter has been in a lot of popular movies (bit parts as a nun in Sister Act movies...) and now she works in graphics. She worked on special effects for 2 Harry Potter, 2 Avengers and 3 Star Wars movies. She "de-aged" Brad Pitt in the Benjamin Button movie.
5. He told me and Bob "I used to be into everything, like you guys" and told us he was in a 4 year relationship with a man before he married his wife. He told us he never thought two men would ever be able to marry in his lifetime. I honestly didn't, either.
2. After 8 years, he left the Navy and opened a nightclub in LA. His regular house entertainment was an act called "Caesar and Cleo" - Sonny and Cher before they were famous.
3. His best friend in LA was Jimmy Greenspoon from Three Dog Night.
4. Elvis often visited his club when he was in LA.
Sorry, this will be a long post. Mom's 87yo friend may be one of the most interesting people I've met in a long time. I've known him for 30 years, but no real detail.
1. He joined the Navy at 18. Showed me pics and, damn, he was hot! He and Bob had the same jobs (radar and tracking).
Honestly, I need about a 30 minute nap but mom's friend is still here and I don't want to be rude. He's really enjoying talking to Bob since they were both in the Navy. Moving the clocks ahead screwing with me right now.
I heard this is what all the chairs look like in @crotchetycarl.bsky.social house.
See this? It's true.
Earlier, both were looking at dog pictures. Both are hard of hearing so they're shouting at each other. ๐
It makes me happy. He comes by every Sunday and they look at pictures and talk about loved ones and reminisce.
My mom's 87yo friend came over to visit for her birthday. He lost his wife (mom's friend) a few years ago. Both of them are looking at their cell phones.
Mom's looking for pictures of his wife to show him. He's looking for old pictures of him in the Navy to show Bob.

40 years ago, my mother, father and I all 3 worked for BASF! Mom was an engineer, father was a technician and I worked the college program where I was on a flex team and could fill in for doffers, people in draw/twist... multiple positions. I worked over Christmas and summer breaks making $15 hour.
I do that once in a while. ๐
Never heard this. I'm liking it, so far. It's 10 minutes!
I've already changed every clock.
So close! My backyard almost dried out from last week's rain.
We have to change ours tonight. They've been talking about ending this for 20 years. Just talking.

This heavy cauldron is my favorite.
I love Talavera pottery! I have a very similar design pot.
