Most of my bluesky posts and projects are things I spend hours, weeks or months researching but the most popular one is the rat I did in twenty minutes waiting for breakfast where I didn't even properly loop or center the camera. Need to commit to that wabi sabi grindset

The eyes are so expressive! Are the irises floating planes that are tracking to the camera? I don't think I've ever seen that technique with pixel art eyes, whenever they're not moving it just looks like they were hand drawn there ๐

"Artists peak at 30", "30 under 30", "by 30 you should" ridiculous. Arts industries capital craves young people to exploit and burn out. It doesn't want older artists thriving and guiding the young. It also doesn't want artists to exist. Stop letting cannibals tell you you only matter on a plate.
I recommend Grant Abbitt as well as a great blender learning alternative to the donut tutorial, his courses tend to be very well done and easy to follow along

if I had learned about vertex painting earlier it could have saved decades of my life. the hardest part of texturing manually is figuring out where the highlights and shades should be, and you can just paint them on the model!!!

I made this little demo in a few hours today just to see if I could achieve the sort of, midcentury off-kilter background art vibe.
They're just very simple geometries with some grease pencil, which has a subtle noise modifier on it.

Working in lowpoly is an exercise in condensing a character down to their essentials and only having the most important details. For example, only giving your clothing exactly two bones that can make the collar pop to increasingly unsustainable degrees
