A 1944 map by geologist Harold Fisk charts a 40-mile stretch of the Mississippi River from Friars Point to Gunnison, Mississippi. concept art showing a cowpybara: a cow sized, extra furry capybara. the image shows two cowpybaras: one dressed & one undressed. the dressed cowpybara stands next to a man, likely its tutor or conductor. the man is outright delighted to be standing next to the cowpybara.

In daze of yore, Fridays were considered unlucky
The Faeries were at their most potent
A journey should not be undertaken
Nor should the making of a dress begin
A new job would be short lived
And heaven help you if you spilled the salt.....#folklorefriday

A digitally drawn homage to the George Herriman comic strip Krazy Kat. Starting left of frame we see yellow Ignatz Mouse having just thrown a brick which is sailing across the center of the frame and in another instant will bash the oblivious Krazy Kat (a blue bipedal cartoon cat wearing a red scarf) in the back of the head as he walks innocently to the right. Everything is drawn in rough black pen and colored in pale washes. A speech bubble from Ignatz reads β€˜Maybe it will…’, the word ’Happen’ appears in the whooshing trail of the sailing brick, and a final speech bubble belonging to the Kat reads β€˜β€¦Today’.

In January 1898, the Illustrated Police News reported that a mysterious figure with
"the ghastly appearance of a headless woman" was haunting an isolated crossroad outside of Buckingham.

If an artist isn't able to visualise their ideas on paper (or on the screen) without the use of genAI, they are not an artist.

I know some artists who aren't capable of visualising things in their head, yet they can still create stunning art. I know others who brainstorm their ideas and compositions with literal scribbles and stick figures, only to end up with a beautifully rendered piece.

There is absolutely no excuse for a self-respecting artist to use genAI at any point during their process.

Someone over on Instagram saying that genAI is bad for art, but can still be used by artists who have trouble visualising their ideas.

I had to reply.
